have only just 'got into' doing my nails. i have had uv nails for years and hated the upkeep and finally managed to grow mine to a paintable lenght.
so far the only polish i have found to give me a good coverage and easy to apply is rimmel professional one but v limited colours.
can anyone recommend good ones in the hot colours for summer, pastels, griege/taupe etc.

thanks

Nails inc and Jessica are my faves. Got this the other day:

I'm currently sporting this on my toes. Available at Superdrug.

AuntieMaggie · 11/06/2010 14:54

avon nail polish is also good - currently sporting the orange one coral beat to try and feel summery although its been raining all week here!

I also have the yellow one for my hol!

Revlon is best out of the cheapest brands, as MrsVWoolf has said. Of the more pricey ones then I use Jessica or Estee Lauder Pure Colour. I have used OPI and Nails Inc and both chipped and wore off after two days.

notjustapuppymum · 11/06/2010 15:34

Oooh yes forgot to mention the Diet Coke/Nails inc deal! I got every colour - don't know what to do with the Diet Coke though, hate it!

ihatethecold · 12/06/2010 14:47

mavala is only 3.75 per bottle from john lewis, lasts ages and because its small you dont end up wasting half a bottle because you've gone of it

minko · 12/06/2010 14:48

Tesco Barabara Daly one's last for ages...

woopsidaisy · 12/06/2010 15:14

Handy tip-store your nail polish in the fridge. It will keep as fresh as the day you opened it,doesn't go gloopy.I have some Chanel ones for years, and they are still perfect,so you don't have to bin them!

AlaskaNebraska · 12/06/2010 15:29

REVLON
not chanel

GeekOfTheWeek · 12/06/2010 16:13

Personally i think OPI and Nails inc are massively overrated. Nails inc chips after a day or 2.

Boots no 7 is okay, goes on nicely, chips on about day 3.

I am still searching for a brand I love.

ClaireDeLoon · 12/06/2010 16:16

OPI lasts ages on me and I have weak nails that bend and I'm prone to getting chips. Jessica also good and I use the Jessica nail treatments and top coats etc.

Chanel just peels off my nails, yet other people find it is great. It all seems quite individual which is odd.

muggglewump · 12/06/2010 16:23

I've been using NYC from Semichem and have had good results.
I have 7 shades and apart from the white, all have had good results.

I like Rimmel too, but then I haven't tried more expensive brands so I don't know how they compare.

I expect to have to redo them, or at least repaint the tips on day 3 anyway so as long as they last till then I'm happy.

apple99 · 12/06/2010 18:32

I have been using a couple of No 7 Speed Dry varnish's and they have been great. More expensive I don't think you can beat Chanel for colours and quality.

Maize · 12/06/2010 18:38

Honestly I buy el-cheapo and they all seem to last the same as the expensive stuff I have. I use an OPI top coat.

I like Rimmel and Miss Sporty the best!

BellsaRinging · 12/06/2010 18:41

I love Avon.

MooMinCow · 12/06/2010 19:14

I think most brands are much of a muchness really - but saying that I like OPI's brushes and wide range of colours.

I think the trick is to use a good base and top coat. I use Seche Vite - is fab, dries quickly, gives lovely glossy finish and makes any cheapy polish look great and last ages...

scratchmyback · 12/06/2010 22:37

I have tried them all!

Used to like Chanel, have gone off that as it chips too easily or lifts off. Colours are brilliant though.

OPI is awful imo - it lasts 2 days at most before it chips.

Dior, not great either.

Jessica, best of a bad lot!

Best cheaper one is Rimmel.

Today I have bought a new one - CND. Have read good reviews on it so maybe this will be better.

woodchuck · 12/06/2010 22:39

I like the maybelline range, mostly cos they dry super fast and I haven't got time to sit around wafting

pinkmagic1 · 12/06/2010 22:44

I find Revlon one of the better brands, plenty of choice and seems to last quite a while too.

reddaisy · 12/06/2010 22:46

Mac is my favourite, it lasts the longest but their colour selection isn't great.
