Pond's Cold Cream

On the advice of Kylie, I bought this cleanser expecting miracles.

No miracles, just lots of clogged pores and spots - am I doing something wrong, or is it just not for me?

I find it really thick and greasy - a bit like putting vaseline on your skin, then it is impossible to wash off. I've tried tissuing off and then using a facecloth but I still get the same result.

I was expecting it to emulsify like the Eve Lom one (perhaps my expectations were too high for a £3.99 cream!)

Have wondered what Ponds creme is like - and being thick and creamy sounds good for my dry flakey face! May just pick up some on my next Tesco shop!

dorisbumble · 10/06/2010 22:22

i couldn't find it in tesco or sainsburys. I think i may pass on the ponds idea after reading this post though!

Used to use it to remove stage makeup when I was a younger. How long have you used it for? The spots might just be as a result of the deep cleansing? Really fancy trying it again, the smell will make the years roll away even if the actual product doesn't!

I use Boots own cold cream.
slap it on and take off with cotton wool pad.

removes all trace of make up and often don't bother with moisturiser after.
no spots either. I love it.

dreamingofsun · 11/06/2010 08:44

think kylie was copying me as i'd just bought some. you need to wipe the cleanser off with cotton wool and i don't seem to need to moisturise afterwards. the moisturiser says its for dry skin - so maybe just wrong for your skin?

MagalyZz · 11/06/2010 09:20

There were a few women in the DM recently who were saying 'yeah, we use Ponds too!' and they were about 65 ish. they both looked like busy, healthy, slim attractive women in their sixties, but neither of them looked less than 65. BUT they also looked happy.

I thought cold cream was for removing make up?

MagalyZz · 11/06/2010 09:21

OP, maybe use it twice a week?

LouIsWaltzingMatilda · 11/06/2010 09:37

I use it once or twice a week as a deep cleanser. I slap heaps on the wipe it off with a face cloth. Sometimes I even sleep in it. My skin always feels and looks great afterwards.

TheChicOfIt · 11/06/2010 13:46

I just don't think it is right for my skin - I might save it for when I have a lot of make up on (that'll be never then ) or donate it to a friend.

Actually, on second thoughts if anyone wants it then let me know - first come first served .

It's only been used twice.

I was sucked into the hype and bought the cleanser and cold cream. The cleanser was effective but I found I came out in a rash around my eyes and cheeks...

Gave it away in the end and now stick to Elemis.....

P.S. Got mine from Superdrug.. they had plenty of stock..

LouIsWaltzingMatilda · 11/06/2010 16:42

So did Kylie rave on about it something? I was wondering why my chemist ran out.

mosschops30 · 11/06/2010 16:46

Lol have you seen Kylie if you believe she looks like that from Ponds Cold Cream then you really are stupid

I saw her new video and thought she was turning into Michael Jackson lol, shes got so much filler in her face it looks like a pillow and shes botoxed to the max.
I read that she said 'i dont have botox anymore' course you dont love, when I gave up botox my lines came back, so where are yours??????

what a pile of bullshit!

TheChicOfIt · 11/06/2010 17:00

I really must be stupid then cos I read that article and believed it......

Wineoclock81 · 27/12/2017 13:43

Did you try removing it with a cloth soaked in hot water?

trigger2 · 27/12/2017 14:34

Haha Mosschops, I say that to my husband ! I'm sure one of her eyebrows never used to be that high lol

Mary1935 · 27/12/2017 15:35

Hi I didn't know how to use the cold cream but I've used their moisturiser for years and found them really good for my dry skin. They are only about £4 for a pot.
