I'm heading out into the summer sales soon to try and kit myself out with a new wardrobe to wear for work and the odd social night out. I want to buy wisely and pick items which will still be fashionable for the next six - nine months at least. As i've not bought anything new in about four years, it's all a bit of haze Does anyone have any tips. I was thinking

*smart black trousers

  • cardis

  • smock dresses

  • leggings

  • tailored dresses like this www.asos.com/Asos/Asos-Cute-Crochet-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=1106220&cid=9978&sh=0&pge=0&pgesi ze=20&sort=-1&clr=Cream

  • a small jacket like this www.marksandspencer.com/Per-Una-Single-Breasted-Jacket/dp/B002Z3W8ZU?ie=UTF8&qid=1276088793&category NodeID=&ref=sr13&page=&node=42966030&sr=1-3&mnSBrand=core&_encoding=UTF8&rh=

Or are these on their way out?

I think they're ok - the jacket and dress are quite classic and I don't think the other items you mention will fall off the radar any time soon.

Reading fashion magazines, you get the impression that clothes from 3 months ago are dreadfully passé but happily, in real life, fashion moves more slowly.
