Fake tan makes my skin itch!

Yes, its the summer, and hence ANOTHER fake tan question!!

I have tried using a number of DIY fake-tan gradual developing creams (johnsons, dove and garnier so far) and all of them make my legs itch incredibly bad. So bad that I scratch my legs in my sleep until I bleed. Its unbearable.

The only fake tan I have used that DOESN'T do this is a san-tropez one I got for my birthday, but its far too expensive for regular use (and I need to be applying my tan fairly frequently due to my smurf coloured milky skin.)

Does anyone else suffer from this? And how do I stop it?!

Embrace the pale.

If something makes you itch, it means that YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO IT and should not be using it. Prolonged use of cosmetics that make you itch can cause damage to your skin or provoke a more serious (respiratory) reaction. Just go natural, nobody actually notices you know.

Ooooooohhhhh sorry, completely forgot to include a very salient fact in my OP, I use fake tans like these all over my body, but I only itch on my legs!

Its definitly the fake tan causing it... never happens at all any other time of year, and it only ever happens at night.

Apologies for such a shoddy an un-informative OP!!

Johnson's makes my legs itch too...shame because it works well, and it's only this year it's happened. I have noticed a much stronger smell with it this year too.

I have just stopped using it and will get my legs out next time the sun comes out.

(I am soooooo pleased to be posting here and not relationships...it was one of my aims!)

The Garnier one made me itch the first time I used it but was okay the second and third time (this is how much I've used it so far!). And yes - it was only my legs that were affected.
