Silk Route dress code - any ideas?

I'm going to a party with a Silk Route dress code. Does this mean I need to buy harem pants?

Can't spend much and would ideally like to be able to wear whatever I acquire in the future. Any ideas/links welcome. May post pre-party pic as reward (though I suppose post-party Gin Route shambles would be real reward..)

I dare you to hire a camel outfit...alternatively,this Monsoon kaftan is very lovely and would come in useful on any future beach holidays.

A cheaper option could be something along the lines of this maxi dress from M&S with bejewelled flip flops.

Arf; that reminds me of Marc Jacobs and his camel toe costume!

giant camel toe

Tempting, but I'd need to hire a trailer to get there.

The Monsoon kaftan looks perfect by any measure and I could add a headscarf (any excuse to wear a headscarf). It even looks flattering and un-muumuu-like.

Thank you!

That is easily the best fancy dress outfit I have ever seen . I am forwarding it to DH who despairs of women with camel toes (although I strongly suspect that it is just an excuse to check out women's arses).

I'm so glad that you like the kaftan. I am tempted to get it myself as I fancy wafting about in it looking stylish this summer.

If only it were just the arse. My DP similar, though I think arsecr*ck tattoos his best worst.

The kaftan really is the first one I've seen and understood the appeal - mainly because it has a waist and isn't I'm Going On Holiday-coloured.

My DH calls those tattoos Arse Antlers

I think that kaftan is tres chic and am only just resisting ordering it myself. I think that it might be a bit TOO good for a French campsite...

I LOVE AA. Am tempted to tell DP now but think I'll try to get him to think of his own names first (he's a sub-editor, loves nerdy word games). Will report any triumphs.

We've just been away for a few days within the UK and I packed completely inappropriately. Ran out of pants, only took one long-sleeve top (coat is 3/4 sleeve), useless pumps and sandals. It mainly rained. So my kaftan advice - of "buy it anyway" - is completely without authority. Except I would say I was better dressed than everyone I met and had that optimistic air of someone underdressed for crap weather.
