Or am I asking for the impossible?

no.

st moriz

cheap imitation of st tropez but a 10th of the price and actually better.

i use the mousse, i honestly cannot recommend it enough. tis dark though, but not at all orange. last for ages too.

you can buy it from savers and home bargains for about 3 quid.

GeekOfTheWeek · 08/06/2010 09:52

My sister is the queen of fake tan and has used most of them in her quest for bronzeness.

She swears by st moritz.

You can get the spray or the mousse. She says the mousse is best and that it can be mixed with a normal moisturiser for grdual tanning if preffered.

superv1xen · 08/06/2010 11:34

it is the best, i too am a fake tan queen lol and have tried loads and loads in my quest for the perfect tan, and st moriz really is the best.

i agree that the mousse is best, the spray is good too but i dont think it lasts as long.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 08/06/2010 12:17

Thanks ladies

Do Boots, Superdrug or Sainsbury's do it?

I had St Tropez last year when on offer. As I never tan I felt the colour aged my legs but I am going to have another try as I am so pale.

I'm surprised you say you never get a natural looking tan. I am pale and these tan products work fine on me. Most of the ones I use - Garnier, st tropez, ambre solaire are great and never orange.

Yes, the smell is a problem. I always do mine in the evening and have a good shower the next morning. I havent found any that dont smell sweaty.

Where is St Moritz from? I've never heard of this brand.

Agree mix plenty of moisturizer with mousse then build up. If your pale then a gentle tan will look natural.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 08/06/2010 12:39

I do get a bit of colour but it is so pale it isn't worth the effort tbh.

I always get dark bits below my knees even when I am careful and scrub first and feet are hit and miss.

I have used allsorts in the past St Tropez, Fake Bake, St Moritz, Lancome, Garnier - as you can see I like a tan!

But just been recommended Xen tan and it is excellent, a bit more pricey but you can get it cheaper on ebay.
It smells of almond when you first put it on, this soon disappears and then no smell at all. Also doesn't come off on the sheets either.
I ALWAYS swore by St Tropez but am now converted.
Have tried St Moritz but on me it comes out as all I can describe as 'an odd brown' colour, but that might just be me

makeupmummy · 08/06/2010 13:35

i am pale and i love famous dave's fake tanfamousdave.co.uk Doesn't come off on clothes, good colour but not freakish!

GeekOfTheWeek · 08/06/2010 16:30

Fab, I feel your pain re the feet and knee problem.

Try exfoliating then applying extra moisturiser in the problem area's half an hour prior to putting the fake tan on.

ShinyAndNew · 08/06/2010 16:36

I love L'Oreal Sublime Bronze. I used the tinted gel, then you make sure you are not going to be streaky and patchy.

You are meant to exfoliate and moisturise no more than four hours before you apply fake tan and your not meant to put fake tan on straight out of the shower either, your skin will be too hot and it will go blotchy.

I usually shower and exfoliate. Moisturise with a body butter or something equally creamy on a morning and apply fake tan on an evening.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 08/06/2010 16:38

I do that Geek, though not half an hour before and it is still rubbish. I was considering going to the salon for a professional tan but after reading about the weird positions I would have to get into, I think I will pass.

The feet are a nighmare so you apply less there and totally avoid the heal, bottom of feet. Mix moisturiser there too.

You do need to exfoliate more than once. Say three times over a week as once isnt enough. Its impossible to get the toes really good.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 08/06/2010 19:14

St Moritz is dirt cheap and is sold in Home and Bargains, Pound Shops etc.

Haven't used it this year yet but I did at the end of last summer and I seem to remember liking it.

I don't actually apply it to knees and ankles as such, just rub really hard over them after doing, the rest, sort of using whatever residue is left on my hands iyswim.

I've used the one from Lush this year which is really light and has a clean laundry smell, which I find bearable.

TheBolter · 08/06/2010 19:19

I've been using the one from Vie at Home, although you can buy it online. It's not cheap - costs £14 for a spray can, but I can honestly say the results are as good as a professional spray tan.

It does smell a bit, but nothing like some I've tried, and is slightly orangey but it doesn't streak if you rub it in and it lasts for about a week.

Will look out for some of this St Moritz stuff though - sounds intriguing...

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 08/06/2010 19:33

I went shopping today and looked for the St Moritz in two different pound shops, Boots, Superdrug, no luck.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 08/06/2010 20:37

You need el cheapo end of the high street - Home and Bargain, Poundland etc.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 08/06/2010 20:48

Fab i use this website: www.chemistdirect.co.uk which is always really cheap. I've just searched for that product but it's out of stock at the mo - you can get an alert when it's in though. Here's a link to the st moritz mousse.

I've ordered a few things off here before - mainly hayfever tablets and vitamins - and they deliver really quickly. V good service I've found...

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 08/06/2010 21:09

Thank you .

Fab, I think I saw the st moriz in bodycare when I last went shopping.

Can you do a review when you have used it so I can try it too
