I have an naturally olive complexion. I'm keen to protect my face here and when we go on hols. However, all the sun screens that I brought so far have turned my face a ghostly chalky colour-def not a good look. Any recommendations out there I'm looking for high protection if poss.

I bought the Nivea Lightfeeling sun lotion a couple of weeks ago and really liked it, it went on like face cream, not claggy. It was factor 30 too, because i am pasty very fair skinned.

Clarins do one which is SPF40, goes on very clear although mineral based. Expensive though, might be worth asking for a sample. here

Also check out Clinique, who do a Citiblock sheer SPF25, and another which is SPF40 which is perhaps not so sheer. I have used the SPF25 in the past and it is fine. here

Thanks florenceuk. One of the Clarins ladies had pointed that one out to me. I gasped at the price but I will now give it a go.

La Roche Posay Anthelios XL 50 is brilliant. It's a light fluid that sinks in really well. It comes in a tinted version that's too dark for my pale skin but would probably be perfect for you. My friend is a dermatologist and recommends it above all others so that's good enough for me

lizandlulu · 08/06/2010 15:53

i use ultrasun spf 20 which is clear with no chalkyness

rosie17 · 08/06/2010 22:27

Thanks VerityBrulee. What a glowing recommendation. I'm off to the chemist to buy this one.
