Help me look fabulous without looking like I have tried too hard!

Is it impossible?

I am going back to my Primary School for a 50th Anniversary party/fete. I was really bullied in school and havent seen any of my former classmates for about 10 years. I want to go back and look fab. Its a day event so dresses would be too much, but a nice top would be good that I can wear with jeans and flats.

Can it be done?

What about a top with some nice wide-legged linen trousers and sandals?

Something like this

atworknotworking · 06/06/2010 21:30

Need vital stats.

Colours / fabrics you suit etc.

ShadeofViolet · 06/06/2010 21:36

Sorry - 5ft 3, size 12. I have short legs, I am a triangle shape - big boobs, small waist, big hips.

I have reddish hair and am very pale, so no bright colours suit me.

I'm same height and size as you. Top is nice. A good pair of dark indigo wide leg jeans would be good. wallis are usually good for that type of thing. There's a 20 % off code for wallis around on s & b too.

jeans

how about this style shoe instead of a big chuncky wedge?

FellatioNelson · 07/06/2010 13:40

Never mind what you clothes you wear, find a generous friend to lend your her big diamonds, posh watch, It Bag and expensive car. Get your hair blow dried professionally, and unless you are very confident with how you look get your make-up done on a free demo in Debenhams or somewhere. They'll be itching to do it for you, they are all bored stiff those cosmetics girls.

Smile dismissively at the bullies, and waft around like someone important.

ShadeofViolet · 07/06/2010 14:40

Thanks everyone for your suggestions

I like the linen trousers and the jeans, but the top is not really my thing. Love your suggestion Fellatio - though I dont think I have any friends that well off.

I think I might chicken out and not go

Don't chicken out - go and show them how fabulous you are!!

Stick with neutral shades as they always look classic and expensive - cream or beige wide leg palazzo pants and a white top. Make sure it's a new WHITE top. Maybe a vest under a floaty top? Wedges to give you height. Big sunglasses, long wood necklace, couple of chunky wood / gold bangles. Get your nails done and maybe your hair blow-dried (again, keep it neutral but having them done will make you look groomed) and swish in looking confident and lovely.

FellatioNelson · 07/06/2010 14:53

Sterling advice Skink, I second all of that. Looking classy and self-assured will be the biggest revenge.

UnrequitedSkink · 07/06/2010 15:02

I thank you Fellatio. BTW, love the name!

tethersend · 07/06/2010 15:52

What about something like this with jeans or trousers?

NewDKmum · 07/06/2010 21:12

Here are some really trendy and flattering tops.

Hope you decide to go and have a great time!
