Help! Summer cocktail party - what to wear especially cover ups for shoulders

Have been invited to a cocktail party in a week's time and I need urgent advice on what to wear!

I have one dress that could just about pass muster for this but it leaves me feeling quite exposed on my shoulders as it's got tiny spaghetti straps and I don't feel my best at the moment - flabby upper arms.

I have a black fake fur stole that would do in winter but is this too... wintry??? What could I use instead or should I just go with the furry stole anyway?

Dress is bright and knee length, relatively plain red.

Party is super posh affair at stately home in Oxfordshire....so bear that in mind.

Let's hope the other guests can't tell my dress and clothes are not of the designer variety.

This is fabulous as a cover up - but possibly a bit on the pricey side? What's your budget?

Oh and - don't wear the black fur - far too wintry.

This is far more summery and would look great with a red dress. What shoes do you have?

OMG I love that but it's too expensive. £50 maximum I'd say.

Red patent wedge heels with a peep toe. They are pretty darn sexy...until you hear which shop they are from.... at which point they suddenly sound as sexy as Susan Boyle.

They sound fab! Another sequinned shrug - bit more reasonable! It says gold but there's an identical gold one so I think they mean silver...

This is lovely also in white

The debenhams sequinned one is a real runner.

Any other ideas welcome. I guess I'd need a nice metallic/ silvery bag with the above too.
