Would be so grateful for ideas!

I love long dresses but being barrel shaped is tricky- not going to shrink to Kate Moss size in the next few weeks but I would like to look a bit fashionable this summer!

(btw I look dreadful in thin straps and dont have massive norks )

Thank you thank you!

Glitterkitty - to be honest, I'm not sure such a maxi exists because they do tend to emphasise your body shape under them - and they're best for hourglass figures rather than apple or pear. Though, that said, you could try H&M which have quite a selection - halterneck sounds like it would work well for you (especially if slightly smocked under the bust) - have seen a couple of those in H&M recently.

TBH, I'd go for a maxi skirt and a pretty top (which flatters your figure by drawing the eye up) and fab funky chunky necklace rather than a maxi dress.

Hi sorry to hijack your thread but I am in the same position (although I have not bad boobs). I would LOVE to wears skirts and dresses this summer but do not know what style to wear or what to put on with a skirt. HELP ME!

glitterkitty · 04/06/2010 20:22

Oi! My boobs are ok too! just not... massive 38c. Lots of apple girls I know have HUGE boobs. Wish I did!

betty- Just got a quite nice black/purple small print floral dress from Dorothy perkins concession which was v flattering!

If you're a C cup you can get away with halternecks - really flattering and definitely draw the eye up. If your norks are larger, then they just dont work. V necks/ruched necks/cowl necks, pretty necklaces - anything that draws the eye away from the tummy area is good. I generally tend to go for block colours as am not a patterns person but if you chose wisely, patterned clothing (pretty tea dress etc) works really well and can be slimming - like glitterkitty's floral dress she mentioned.

I'm short and looking somewhat dumpy of late

I got a really ace dress that you wrap round, has sweetheart neck and puffy capped sleeves and lots of drapey material. Bits of it are quite long. Tis dead flattering

was from a little local boutiquey place and they only seem to sell the men's stuff online. But just to wet yr appetite for sommat of that ilk, like

step away from maxi dresses

Oh God... maxi dresses - so full of promise, yet so disappointing in reality.

I am a size 10, 5ft 8in tall... you'd think i'd have no trouble eh?

Crap. Tried on loads and they all, WITHOUT FAIL, make me look about 3 stone fatter.
