Invisible v visible undies

Another post reminded me of this. MIL recently bought a diaphanous black blouse. I suggested she wear a b
nude bra beneath. Oh, no, she said, I will wear a black one.

I pointed out that everyone would be able to see.

She said this was the point, as otherwise people might think she was not wearing underwear and was thus suspect.

Is this a normal thing or another symptom of MIL's bonkersness?

Oh god, the thought of my MIL in a see-through blouse.
