Epilator update!

I have just used the Braun one that's on offer in Boots-£73- and it's fab.
I have to say, my legs are covered in chicken skin now, but I didn't find it painful.
I only shaved 2 days ago, and it has whisked out the shortest stumps imaginable.

Am I just hard and northern?

Absolutely honestly truthfully swear-on-your-favourite shoes it didn't hurt?????

I bought one of those ones with a freezer pack years ago and only ever tried it once. It was bloody agony

deaddei · 02/06/2010 20:47

No honestly.
I would never lie on MN
I do have a high pain threshold.
Put it this way- if it was a choice between epilation and sex, I'd go for the epilator.

I find epilators more annoying than painful - I think I have a high pain threshold too! It really doesn't hurt if you have a TENS machine on though, as I found out when in v early labour with DD2!

taczilla · 02/06/2010 21:52

I have epilated for years and it is always best in the summer when I do it more frequently.

I am well hard as I do my bikini line too although have attempted the pits it was a pluck too far! I reckon it is less painful if you have waxed for a while.

BallpointPen · 02/06/2010 21:55

I am medium-size-hard and it doesn't really hurt, less so each time you do it.

Your chicken skin will be gone tomorrow.

I would never go back to any other kind of hair removal now.

deaddei · 02/06/2010 22:08

Has gone already.
Very impressed with the results.
Who knows, I may even buy a SKIRT this summer.

It is less painful aas time goes on. I do my legs and pits with it, but have not ventured near the jungle!

deaddei · 02/06/2010 22:12

I have no underarm hair and would certainly never venture "down below"
Hard, but not that hard.

BelleDameSansMerci · 02/06/2010 22:14

Ooooh, I popped one in my Boots online shopping basket and then chickened out. I may go back and get it now...

I wish I had no underarm hair.

JaxTellersOldLady · 02/06/2010 22:15

I have been toying with buying one of these for a few weeks now. Do you promise they are worth the money?

And do you swear on your fave handbag and shoes and eyeliner it is easy to use and not too painful???

I have my eyebrows waxed and sometimes bikini too, so I am ok with pain. Is it worth it? Will I be able to wear a dress/skirt and not have to shave my legs every day?

Wonderstuff · 02/06/2010 22:19

Go for it Jax but get a wax done first - then use for regrowth - so much better than shaving

deaddei · 02/06/2010 22:21

Honestly.
I used one years ago but have shaved nearly every day- I have dark hair.
I will report tomorrow on how they look (after my early morning swim)

And if no one believes me, I will demonstrate in front of cyb.

flibbertigibbert · 02/06/2010 22:22

Am interested in one of these but do they give you ingrown hairs?

How often do you have to use it?

I'm very tempted as I have dark hair and have to do my underarms everyday.

whatnxt · 02/06/2010 22:29

I have a 20 yo model which hurts like hell and isn't that effective (have kept it solely for my hairy toes ). Have they come on a lot then?

ok I am off to Boots website to buy one. Had a look today when I was in town and couldnt decide which one to buy... so got none. But I will buy one.

JaxTellersOldLady · 05/06/2010 20:11

I have bought one. A Braun with a light and pully outy bits and a few different attachements. It is a bit ouchy, but not sore, you get used to it quite quickly.

I will do it properly later tonight, gave my legs a quick run over this afternoon to see how much pain I could deal with. Not sure about doing my bikini line though. Think that is a step too far.
