Now, that was a pleasant suprise for a hairdresser's advice

I popped into the new hairdresser in town to make an appointment to have a cut - my hair is very long, and I haven't had it cut for quite some time, so expecting 'the look'. Said what I wanted, and said also I'd like some advice on colour (do my own atm) as am white at the front, so roots show very fast.

Previously, all hairdressers want to do highlights, faffy colours etc, and always want to chop all my hair off (don't have time or lifestyle for that).

The v v nice hairdresser had a good look (was between appointments), and said 'I can't really do anything better than you do at the moment to be honest - highlights would look nice, but would be super high maintenance and wreck your hair. I'd go lighter, but with white at the front and 20% grey at the back it would look weird'. And just wants to take a v reasonable amount of hair off.

Nice to meet someone honest about what could be done for once !

Grab that hairdresser and never let them go!

I guarantee, by the law of Sod, next time you visit her, she will have gone to a different salon.

Get her personal number and never lose it. Give her yours. Tip her really well.

Fortunatly, it's a bloke, and he owns the salon - so as long as he keeps in business, it should be OK. And he seemed to have plenty of people making appointments so far.

Am a bit hairdresser phobic as they always seem on a mission to do something to my hair that I don't want, and usually as soon as I find someone I like, they leave and I go through the same hell again. Hence, I haven't had my hair cut for a year - apart from the front layers which I have been doing myself in the MN haircut style

That's even better CMOT, if he owns the salon and has that attitude, the rest of the staff should have it too. Are you going to brave an appointment?

Looks like it is just him atm, certainly not a lot of room in there. Have made an appointment for next Thursday to get tidied up
