I never seem to have anything to wear to go out...

with DP, I always end up in jeans and a nice top. But I'd like to be able to wear something different, I just don't know what. I have various dresses but they all seem too dressy, I don't want to feel under or over-dressed. I don't know why this feels so hard! I put linen trousers on the other night but then I just seemed to look like I was going to work.

Can anyone help?
Am nearly 40, shortish (5'4") and slim. Don't want to look muttony. And no to maxi-dresses! Feel more comfortable with a bit of a sleeve when I'm wearing dresses.

know how you feel, am 42, tend to wear jeans or leggings/tunic top in winter or patterned skirt/black vest in summer. My staple.
How about something like this which isn't too dressy but a little smarter than jeans
I also like this with leggings or skinny jeans
this skirt with fitted navy tshirt
this with low wedges or flip flops/glads for more casual look

Thanks Clure!

Like the wrap dress, depends on the length though, a lot of dresses seem to be too short to wear on their own. If it was knee length, that would be great.

Like the shape of the tunic but think I would feel a bit dull in grey.

With skirts and tops I always seem to look a bit wrong these days, always end up feeling a bit frumpy or like I can't get the top the right length with the skirt, so I am a bit scared of them.

Like the knot front dress, not sure of the colour on me though.
