Am I the only person in the world who doesn't wear those strappy ankle boots/gladiator type sandal/shoes?!

I've tried a few pairs on but they all look hideous on me. Is there a special technique to getting the look right - or are they a bit naff anyway and should I just give up and go back to my favourite kitten heels and 'mary-janes'?

I can't bring myself to wear them. In fact I hate sandals in general, and gladiators are just excessively sandally to me.
Go back to your kitten heels and mary-janes.
Solidarity.

I'm just glad that flat sandals are fashionable as I can't wear heels. If I could wear kitten heels I would.

luciemule · 30/05/2010 22:47

I hate them these

scoobydoolady · 30/05/2010 22:51

Totally naff sandals bit like those 80's baggie bottom trouser thingies that make you look like you pooped your pants/wear incontinence pads.

nancydrewrocks · 31/05/2010 09:55

They are one of those fashion dilemas as they flatter no one. They chop your leg off at the ankle and so make even the leanest and longest legs look well...stumpy.

The only way to get over this is by forgetting how they look on, just buy a fab pair that everyone you meet will covet thus failing to notice that your ankles now look chunkier than if you had just stuck to your haviannas!

AdsVitsFoodJuice · 31/05/2010 09:57

they are hideous
I'm with you

ILoveGregoryHouse · 31/05/2010 10:00

Horrid horrid horrid. Avoid like the plague.

Bonsoir · 31/05/2010 10:05

I have some really, really lovely ones from Fratelli Rossetti. Super glam and chic, very very very sexy!

TulipsInTheSunshine · 31/05/2010 10:06

I have a gorgeous pair of 4.5 inch heeled gladiator shoes, black leather.

They're my favourite shoes and look equally good with a skirt or with cropped skinny jeans.

i couldn't wear flat gladiator sandals though, they wouldn't suit me at all.

ameliameerkat · 31/05/2010 10:47

Tulips - 4.5 inch heels?!?! Eek! I couldn't walk in them!

I have short, not terrible thin legs and there's no way I'd wear glads in any shape or form!

TulipsInTheSunshine · 31/05/2010 10:51

I can walk more easily in heels that flats oddly enough Something to do with my flat feet, i feel more 'balanced' in heels.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 31/05/2010 11:07

No - hate them, hate them, hate them. Flat or high heeled, they are hideous things that should be consigned forever to the bad fashion bin.

BornToFolk · 31/05/2010 11:18

I have stumpy legs and fat ankles. They would look beyond hideous on me. Which is a shame as I'm actually starting to like gladiator sandles.

EdgarAllenPoll · 31/05/2010 11:20

i don't like most of them..haven't bought any footwear this year so i can't claim to have actively boycotted them..but particularly the flat ones look obscenely uncomfortable..

Francagoestohollywood · 31/05/2010 11:22

I don't like them.

darksideofthemooncup · 31/05/2010 11:24

I hate them too, and all those straps eurgghhh imagine the BLISTERS!

EdgarAllenPoll · 31/05/2010 11:32

and the tall galdiator strappy sandals..just shorten the leg by coming half way up them...i think it is a rare woman who wil look realy good in them.

Kaloki · 31/05/2010 19:31

They make my legs look awful, really short and stumpy!

cyb · 31/05/2010 19:37

Mrs Sb I love em but they wont look right just bunged on with any old outfit.

duckyfuzz · 31/05/2010 19:38

I like flat ones, have just bought these but can't see the point in the glad/boot affair

cyb · 31/05/2010 19:38

and those NEXT ones linked to are gorgeous!

cyb · 31/05/2010 19:39

but I dont like the peep toe boot,or those weird toe post ankle wrapped flat things

GwennieF · 31/05/2010 19:41

I think they look lovely on other people. But at 5 foot 2, I accept that I am too short in the leg to wear them. Well - could wear them, but they would make me look even shorter than I am!

AnnieLobeseder · 31/05/2010 19:41

I think they're nasty and won't have anything to do with them. But then, my shoes are all Crocs. Not the original shape Crocs, mind you, mine are classy Crocs! So comfy!!!!
