Ever used an image/colour consultant?

Hi
I am toying with the idea of going to a image consultant. Has anyone done it, would you recommend? I feel I need help with work and casual clothes.

As I am approaching my mid 30s, I feel that some "fashiony clothes" can look a bit "mutton dressed as lamb" on me, but I also don't want to look like I am shopping at Ann Harvey's...

They are rather expensive - a couple of hundred for the day, but it "should" last a life time. Somebody I know through work saw somebody and said it was worth the money...

Cheers

I had a colour consultation, and was given a swatch at the end with colours that suit me, graded as to how good they look on me.

It was interesting, but the only colour that really suits me is a vile shade of diarrhoea (sp?) brown.

I think I'll stick to wearing colours I like!

If you're really unsure about your image, go for it! You're still young so you'll get your moneys worth. Make sure you go to someone good though, not someone who tries to fit you into a particular style.

I had a colour consultation as part of my redundancy package (there was a mix and match set of options to choose to help you find a new job). It was amazing to see how colours effected people - often they could not see the difference in the mirror (I know I couldn't when I had two different colour fabrics draped around me), but to everyone else in the room, it was a striking difference.

Thanks for sharing, think I'll go for it.

Will take care in who I choose though. Had a look on the Federation of Image Consultants website to find one... www.tfic.org.uk/find-an-image-consultant.html and frankly some of them don't look like they 'walk the walk'. Not being ageist, would have thought that experience is a bonus but some of them don't look very "modern"...

Jennifer Aston was the person who was recommended, she is £350 a day, but it is probably worth spending the extra. She looks like she is wearing my sort of clothes!
