What to wear for date straight after work? (First date in over a decade so have no clue where to begin)

Hello,

This is my first ever post on mumsnet, despite being a regular lurker for several years.

As title says, I have a date for drinks at a wine bar in a couple of weeks, which will be my first date in well over a decade (am in the middle of getting divorced).

I have absolutely no idea what to wear (and am bundle of nerves)! Please could someone help.

I'm 35, 5'4", size 10, pale skin, brown hair.

We're meeting straight from work - so whatever I wear will also need to be suitable for the meetings I'll have had earlier in the day. But I don't want to look too "worky" or boring.

All suggestions very very gratefully received.

Thank you

What sort of environment do you work in? Are jeans a big no no? If not I would say jeans, nice top, blazer and heels. Otherwise a tailored dress that you could wear to your meetings and then out afterwards. Do you prefer skirts..... Perhaps a pencil skirt?

can you not take something to change in the toilets?

Congrats on the date BTW.

If I'm going out after work I usually change in the toilets and leave my work clothes in my desk to take home the next day. I'd go jeans, pretty top, heels for the evening. If you can't change then maybe a dress that you could wear with sensible heels during the day and then more exciting heels and accessories for later?
