What do you wear to do the housework???

Just curious - i always do my cleaning on a Sunday morning - after breakfast, in my pyjamas and then when all the house is sparkly i go and have an indulgent soak in the bath, change into comfy sunday clothes and then prepare dinner.

What made me ask this is i just saw next door neighbour in the garden as i was hanging out the washing. Well we 'small talked' and it transpired she was doing her cleaning also....
In a Ghost dress!! I only know its ghost because my sister bought it for her reception outfit when she got married last month so you can imagine this is not a cleaning outfit!!!!

So what do you wear to mop the floors and scrub the bathrooms???

If I'm doing housework in the morning, same as you. Pyjamas and a bath afterwards. If I'm cleaning later I usually change into a t-shirt and jeans or something if I'm in a dress/skirt.

rags.
The oldest shabbiest tracky bottoms and such.

So it doesn't matter if bleach gets on them.

HeadFairy · 30/05/2010 11:09

A tabard

iMum · 30/05/2010 11:09

jimmy choos and a Tiara nothing else!

no really, whatever I happen to be wearing that day (usually jeans)

deaddei · 30/05/2010 13:00

Floral pinny and my hair in rollers.

thumbwitch · 30/05/2010 13:06

normal every day clothes. TBH, I don't do housework that often so it rarely affects my clothing

giraffesCANdriveAcar · 30/05/2010 13:08

a thong

usualsuspect · 30/05/2010 13:09

this for teenagers bedroom

MrsSeanBean · 30/05/2010 22:37

I usually just wear underwear and clip all my hair up as I end up like a manic wild haired sweaty beast a bit too warm otherwise.

I find it impossible to clean slowly. The plus side is that it doubles as a kind of workout. The downside is any unsuspecting people outside looking in!

PigeonsInFlight · 30/05/2010 23:45

Just what I'm wearing. If I had to get changed on top of cleaning nothing would ever get done

Quite agree with what cat64 said.

I do most the cleaning everyday so usually whatever I'm wearing to go out and get the shopping etc stays as I clean but if it's a big clean up I usually throw on my combats and vest and the old marigolds

I've never had a specific cleaning day like sunday etc, my big cleans usually happen when I see a big mess...or am feeling energetic enough to get sweaty and do some scrubbing! :P

ZacharyQuack · 31/05/2010 00:40

Latex bodysuit.

And Ugg boots, for comfort.

ThickyStarlightTrollGirl · 31/05/2010 00:46

LOL. funny thread.

agedknees · 31/05/2010 11:35

scabby old cotton dressing gown. After finishing cleaning I indulge in a long bubble bath.

lumpsdumps · 31/05/2010 11:38

dressing gown

noddyholder · 31/05/2010 11:43

Joggers and an old t shirt

Helenastar · 31/05/2010 13:04

Am a complete slob at home, so I will wear trackie bottoms and grey T-Shirt, complete with a resplendant red pinny! in fact i have 2 red pinnys, one for housework and one for cooking.this is not too much is it?
I have also been known to go for a quick jog after the housework in the same clothes, minus the red pinny of course!

satc2bringiton · 31/05/2010 13:13

Sometimes I do the PJ thing like you.

However if it's a Sunday and were not going anywhere all day, I just shower early then wear my comfy cut off joggers.

But mostly it's just in my normal clothes during the day.

MarthaLovesMatthew · 31/05/2010 15:06

Mind if I join in?

I'm a SAHM, I have a kind of housework uniform. A few old t-shirts and comfy skirts. Oh and an old shabby, stained apron that I made myself.

Today though DD is teething and is v. hard work so I'm in my PJs eating a Double Decker.

Definitely wouldn't waste a ghost dress on scurbbing the floor...

MarthaLovesMatthew · 31/05/2010 15:06

typo...scrubbing that's meant to say, not scurbbing

cheesesarnie · 31/05/2010 15:13

do people seriously change or have special housework clothes???

its easier just not to do the house work surely?

if i did id probably go for a tutu,a tiara, pearls and 5 inch heels.

cheesesarnie · 31/05/2010 15:13

just realised i sound like a slut.im very not.

capstone · 31/05/2010 15:33

Tracksuit bottoms, zip sweat top or old jumper or T-shirt. Not pyjamas, as bra is necessary! Or casual things I am wearing that day anyway, with an apron over the top.

SixtyFootDoll · 31/05/2010 15:36

Nowt but a smile!
