Have not worn a dress in a decade but have to go to Ascot. Help!

A friend has got tickets for the Queen's enclosure at Ascot, but I don't own anything remotely posh, I certainly don't own a dress or even a chic summer skirt. Friend says v.posh, I need fascinator or hat as well.
Feel quite overwhelmed by this although it is exciting, I needed to buy ordinary clothes not posh dress I will never wear again and have no time to shop anyway. What am I going to do? I feel v.self conscious at present, have put on weight with AD's in last 6 months and was already overweight. My thighs are starting to rub together so fear I will b very uncomfortable in a dress.
As my name suggests, I do however have accessories including a couple of fascinators

Have a look on Ebay for something in yr size from Monsoon-there are lots that have been bought and worn once for events like this, and then put straight online..

If you feel yr thighs are fat, you will almost certainly look far slimmer in a dress than trousers.

Agree with PlumSykes re Ebay. There are lots of occassion dresses that have only been worn once or twice for sale. I don't know what size you need but just as an example there's this Monsoon dress and bolero still under £25.00 with two days to go. Or this nude colour dress which you could wear a shrug with if you don't want to expose your arms.

If you're worried about your thighs rubbing in a dress then wear a pair of comfort shorts underneath.

thanks both, monsoon stuff ideal, shall have a look on ebay. I don't know what dress size I am, have enormous norks (36H), flabby middle, alright bum & legs (except they rub together).
Usually 18 up top, 16 below). I wear v. plain clothes normally as I have 4 dcs under 6! I just don't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb with everything clinging to my podgy bits and dresses are usually tight up top.
Don't know what style of dress as haven't worn one for at least 12 years. I get very nervous about choosing clothes, this is well out of my comfort zone. I don't like heels either! I like greens and purples, red is ok, don't mind patterns. I've put myself in this box of mum of 4 looking frumpy and don't know how to get out of it but feel like I"m being forced to.

I think it would look great,with little blazer or cardy.It is made for big norks!Or this one,which would be gorgeous,with wee bolero if worried about arms.

Thanks whoops. I went to Monsoon on the weekend and tried on a lot but nothing really worked although I didn't look as bad in a dress as I had thought. I just don't think Monsoon things fit me v.well that's all. I feel less nervous about it all.
Did take a look at Bravissimo dresses but I think they're too short for me, I don't have great knees/calves and hideously pale. Did find at Monsoon that a dressy top and skirt might work better as I could use them again and accessorize.
