So if Maxi dresses are naff, tell me what sort of dresses to wear?

Very tall, size 12/14, long legs, wide across the shoulders.

Also 45 so not too much flesh on display please and not too much lycra

I thank you.

who said maxis were naff? Thought they were all in?

OrmRenewed · 25/05/2010 15:16

Not according to the other thread

But genuinely I want to know. I don't like empire line, I don't like gypsy look, I need something that fits me waist not under my bust.

Maxi dresses aren't naff - they are fantastic! Ignore the other thread and bask in your maxi greatness

Someone posted thiis on the Frumpy Woman thread www.wraponline.co.uk/fashion-T906-SMWWO/mid-season-sale/maja-print-dress.htm which looks nice.

I've got to go to wedding in August so think maxis are a godsend to avoid the pasty bare-legs dilemma.

luciemule · 25/05/2010 16:10

not sure that was the right dress said as it was bove the knee. Did you mean here

said · 25/05/2010 16:13

That's nice as well but I thought OP was looking for non-maxi options

OrmRenewed · 25/05/2010 16:20

Well yes I was looking for shorter dresses. I love my maxi but have to accept it isn't suitable for all the time. I like that dress said but I suspect the waist will come too high. That is the sort of thing I like. Actually I just remembered the site someone linked to in another thread ages ago some nice dresses on here

Really love maxi dresses as they are cool and summery yet cover my fat, pasty white legs!

love that mistral website orm - ordered loads of stuff then removed it all as I'm meant to be saving until the end of the month! Lovely though - will put it in my faves.

Me too lucy - am thinking about it.... we are supposed to moving house soon so need the money for boring things.

Oh thankyou for asking this Orm. I'm same age/size as you.

I don't want some ditzy sun dress the size of a hanky, not with my elderly knees anyway. Knee length would be good for me (just below).

A maxi - well I might for a special occasion. But I can't see me wafting about all through the summer in them, I'd look like Margo Leadbetter.

Have a look at the mistral site I linked to! It had some lovely stuff but not sure how it will fit a tall person though. Need to to do some measuring re length and waist.
