Ok, I'm going to wear a tight, fitted black dress, red belt, fishnets and (I would like) very high, very red shoes to complete the look. DH has a thing for the Ashes to Ashes look so thought I'd whip up an outfit for him when he takes me out in 3wks time.

Actually, I haven't got any of the outfit yet. Currently all in my head so any help with the dress (must have sholders) and inch or two thick belt also appreciated. Think I can manage the tights on my own.

But shoes are the biggy. He hates real cheapy shoes so no £19.99 jobbies but no £300 pairs either. Ta very much

If it helps with dress I'm size 12 and 5ft5. I'm a boobs and bum size 12 rather than bigger tummy size 12 if that makes sense as may be relevant to cut of dress.

Marks and spencer! or any Arcadia shop - Dorothy perkins/ topshop etc. Red shoes are my forte. For special ones try nine west or debenhams designers.

Anything here for your feet?

BelleDameSansMerci · 24/05/2010 21:09

I assume you want 80s style ones then? How about these unless you're a size 5? Bargain?

LynetteScavo · 24/05/2010 21:10

modern yet classic

Or should that be classic yet modern?

Ewe · 24/05/2010 21:12

These are cute red sling-backs

Open toed but more supportive

I like these

BelleDameSansMerci · 24/05/2010 21:12

Or these slingbacks?

myredquattro · 24/05/2010 21:13

Thanks ladies. Ive had a look at all of those and the red patent lois ones from Shuh are pretty much what I'm looking for. High and tarty. Nothing classy required!

Oh I didn't see 80's bit!

These?

Ewe · 24/05/2010 21:21

Dress - might be too worky

Like this - it has shoulder pads!

myredquattro · 24/05/2010 21:22

x posts with lots. Ewe, those 'grip' ones on the Kurt Geiger site are stunning. Do you think I can wear those with fishnets? Are peeptoe ever ok with tights?

Not too 80s. I want high and tarty.

Ewe, the Oasis dress is more what I'm looking for. Hopefully less worky with a red belt and the shoes!?!

So, yes, I guess I'm looking for a black shift dress which will look good with a red belt and ensemble.

Any more dress ideas? Maybe belt? All shoe stuff was really helpful. Narrowed it down to the red patent courts in Shuh and the KG ones if open toe+tights ok. Any views on this?

Open toe and tights are fine, just need a pair like this without a reinforced/funny toe area.

BelleDameSansMerci · 24/05/2010 21:40

I loved the Lois shoes - may get those for myself!

Ewe · 24/05/2010 21:47

Bit sexier

This is nice, could be v.flattering

This is sweet but wouldn't work with a belt

Gosh, thanks Ewe! I really like the first FC dress with the ruffles but I agree it wouldn't work with a belt.

The Karen Millen one is a bit short I think for the look I was going for. Though the black belt could presumably just be swapped for a red one. Not sure I'm skinny enough either. Think it would look fab on size 8/10 but not sure it would flatter my boobs at all.
Thanks again. All really helpful.
