Have eyebrow appointment tomorrow and can either have threading or waxing

asked dopey receptionist the difference she had very little to say

it's the same price so my usual decision-making criteria is lost to me

Threading - a piece of twisted thread is used to wrap around the hairs and pull them out. It hurts like hell and takes longer (2 mins vs 2 seconds). But ime the skin recovers faster because you haven't stuck wax to it and pulled it off. If the therapist is good the results will be wonderful.

Waxing - quick, less painful, less accurate and sometimes you can get a rash afterwards. But this happens for me only if I have my upper lip waxed.

Personally I go for threading.

I'm a big fan of threading - my beauty therapist is very skilled and the results are fantastic.

Personally I find it a lot less painful than waxing, and with a lot less irritation and redness afterwards too. Re-growth also less stubbly imo.

Threading is the best for eyebrows as is gives you a clean precise line (and I find they grow back a lot slower) Doesn't hurt that much, more eye watering sensation then pain (but then I have a high pain threshold!)

another vote for threading.

Waxing is faster but I find it's too harsh on my skin as it really pulls at the eye.

Waxing for me. Therapist gave up threading me after one eyebrow as my eye were streaming. She waxed the other.

I went into a salon recently and asked if someone could do a eyebrow shape; she said yes and directed me to a chair. I was a little surprised but thought maybe i wait here, then this lady appeared with a piece of cotton and said head back ... i was surprised but threading was so much better! Never will i wax again!

Definitely threading - I don't find it hurts at all where as waxing always makes me sneeze.

charlottesmum5 · 24/05/2010 18:08

definitely threading - i had my eyebrows and lip done today - fantastic results x

Sorry to go against the grain but I've had both and would go for waxing. Threading is sooo painful and it goes on and on. Waxing hurts too but it's v quick. You can get a good shape with either but of course it depends on who does it.

I have my eyebrows and upper lip threaded, and am always pleased with the results. I do not find eyebrows painful to have threaded, but upper lip for me is owwwww! But worth it.

ticktockclock · 24/05/2010 23:38

I would always take threading over waxing. Waxing is way too harsh for me, my skin was being pulled off far too often.

Threading is nice, neat and no more painless then waxing.

susiecutiebananas · 25/05/2010 00:15

I have had both done. WHilst threading was very neat and did give a lovely shape, i'm afraid it really really really hurt like hell. As in wanting to shout and punch the little lady doing it...
Waxing, whilst hurts as much, is so much quicker and therefore has been my choice when i've neglected brows and need a good tidy and havn't the time/inclination to go at them with my tweezers!

So, it depends really... its a mixed bag. I don't think that having my threading done on a chair in the middle of the beauty department of a busy department store...

hugebelly · 25/05/2010 14:14

Threading is more accurate but more painful (in my experience).
