Opinions on this French Connection dress please...

See here
I bought this and took it back as the 'collar'/ neckline was quite high - a sort of gathered turned over v neck with quite a lot of fabric there - but now I wish I'd kept it as it's a nice day and I have nothing to wear. Before I (a) buy online or (b) return to the shop (red faced) please can you wise MNers give me your thoughts...?

Also, do you have pointers to any suitable alternatives you may have seen on your travels?

i like

Very nice; you could wear with leggings too, to extend life in the autumn.

PuppyMonkey · 24/05/2010 08:48

Looks a bit fussy to me. Not the sort of dress you can chill out in. Too much gathering.

fishie · 24/05/2010 08:49

i think it could be rather overpriced. but if it is nice on then that is worth paying for. primark usually looks cheap.

MarthaFarquhar · 24/05/2010 08:52

I think it's lovely, and find the few bits I've got from french connection wash really well.

Agree that it would work in the autumn with leggings and boyfriend cardi. If I wasn't up the duff I might get it myself.

LOVE

Some nicer ones here and cheaper too... Not keen on the print of the FC one, sorry.

bishboschone · 24/05/2010 16:12

i really like that..I am hourglass and I think it would suit me. I don't think its 'too' expensive for FC. If it fits nicely.

Bellebelle · 24/05/2010 19:51

Mrs SB - I bought that dress and took it back too. I really liked the print but it was a really bad fit, might just be me but it seems to have been in FC for ages and they usually sell out of their really good stuff pretty quickly so maybe it's one of these things that doesn't quite 'work' iyswim. They had another similar dress in a slightly different style and pattern which I've been trying to find but sold out everywhere.

If you really regret not keeping it then go back and try on again before deciding but you might just remind yourself of why you returned it in the first place.

Sorry can't do links on phone but Urban Outfitters have a fab dress which I bought instead with lovely pattern (imo) and pockets in it - I LOVE pockets in dresses If you search 'reformed mini zip dress' on the website it should come up.

I have started at least three threads about this dress

to cut a Very long story short I now own it (again) and i love it but can't decide what sandals to get to go with it...

Ronaldinhio · 25/05/2010 09:14

like but the neckline would kill me and my giant norks

muddleduck · 25/05/2010 09:20

no no no. tis great for giant norks.
that is why i bought it!

Ronaldinhio · 25/05/2010 09:21

sorry i thought the neckline looked too high and the pattern a bit busy but i'm not often right!

muddleduck · 25/05/2010 09:23

the neckline is a very deep narrow v.
patterns is very busy though,.

so what sandals?

MrsSeanBean · 25/05/2010 18:51

Update: I bought it (again) and am pleased with I did (I think!?!) I agree the neckline is good for larger bust.
