Am I asking too much?

Am looking for a maxi dress that I can wear during the day to a bbq party - and hopefully beyond.

All I want is one with proper straps so I can wear a proper bra, and a bit empire-line as I'm 11 weeks pregnant and getting a tummy. I'd also like it to go with my new tan bag!

Is that too much to ask? Why are they all strapless or slinky, or halterneck? :-(

Am 5ft 6 and a size 8-10, ghostly pale with red/brown hair.

Anyone spotted this dress to end my quest?

LetThemEatCake · 22/05/2010 22:03

have you tried oli? I am wearing one from river island today, check the site as it's one you can't link from ... congrats on your pregnancy, I had a fab maxi when I was pg last summer strapless through so won't bother linking ...

I saw somebody in this and it looked lovely - however she had on a jacket, adn the next website is hopeless and you can't see the top, so I dont' k now if it has straps.

moragbellingham · 23/05/2010 07:19

I've just bought an empire line patterned green one from Gap (25% off with Grazia coupon).
Very summery with big straps but they cross over at back so bra showage for all to view. Looks nice with gold sandals and belt.
So hard to find any at the moment, they were flying of the rack.

other colours availabe too

I had this last year and the fact that I could wear a bra with it was great.

Lots of lovely ones from Phase 8 with proper straps.

Biscuitbreaker · 23/05/2010 15:01

I like a couple of the Phase 8 ones, but the seem to be a bit too shape skimming for my bump!

Have just looked at Oli, there a couple of nice ones...

Have found this on which I like, but it's out of stock everywhere! Typical...

Dorothy Perkins - I know I wouldn't have thought it either but look at:

knot

Would look lovely with a bump

Loads in the shop and very flattering
