where to buy a gold chain

Was thinking of getting a gold chain for my mum's birthday.

Ideally with enough substance to it to look like a classy piece of jewellery but the price limit would have to be about £200.

Any good gold sites i should look at? I'm not coming up with much.

Why don't you try an antique shop?

pointydog · 22/05/2010 21:32

Not enough time, belle, as I wouldn't know wehre to start and I don't like spending much time shopping.

Is there an antique shop where you live? To be honest, you'll get alot more for your cash then a gold site because of the price of gold being stupidly high. Antique jewellery is loved and has a history. All you need to do is pop in to a local one (look through the phone directory), it doesn't take very long.

not where I live. I'd need to go into the city. Gold prices really high then? Maybe it's not such a good idea.

Gold prices are manic. Have you not been paying attention to all the crappy "we'll buy your unwanted gold" adverts on the TV/in supermarkets?

pointydog · 22/05/2010 21:54

no

I am brilliant at not noticing things

You can look at your local auction house's list online, phone them up and make a telephone bid. All you have to do is collect and pay, easy!

pointydog · 22/05/2010 22:02

my local auction house?? Would that be in yelloe pages?

yes. You can do it all online, it's good as long as you win, it's like ebay, you tell them the maximum that you are willing to pay and you don't have to do anything else.

What part of the country are you in pointydog?

pointydog · 23/05/2010 18:31

la belle ecosse (that's scotland to you). Why? You got some knock off gold chains?

Thought I might know somewhere near you.

But I don't, sorry!
