does chlorine affect nail varnish?

I thought I might paint my nails tonight while DH watches the football but I shall be swimming tomorrow with the DCs. Will the chlorine in the pool make the varnish peel or chip?

Shouldn't do. Unless it's really really cheap varnish, I suppose.

It generally does make it peel and chip more, ime. Worse on fingernails than toenails, I find. Topcoats help.

thanks girls. It's OPI varnish and I have Jessica top coat so I think i'll give it a go. The football is just soooooooo boring I have to do somehting. Whose idea was it to get rid of the second TV????? Oops - mine!!
