Advice needed from you ladies Who Know These Things..

I've got a cream linen dress with aqua (or it could be a very light turquoise, I'm useless at this sort of thing) embroidery and silk trim, with a aqua/turquoise bolero cardi thingie that I'm going to wear to a wedding soon. The dress has a flared, almost fifties-style skirt. What colour of shoes should I wear? Obviously not cream - too bridey - but it's proving impossible to match the aqua/turquoise in the dress so was thinking of a contrast, but what colour would work? Thanks

Not sure I qualify as a 'lady who knows', but my first thoughts are either a tan shoe/sandal, a tasteful/subdued coppery/bronze, or a muted pewter/metallic.

I'm not a lady who knows these things but I think bright red or fuschia would work if you want a contrast

Otherwise to appear tasteful I agree a muted metallic (muted gold/pewter best) would work, or tan, but tan's boring

I was thinking of fuschia, so I'm pleased that I wasn't too way off mark. Didn't think of muted metallicsbut that sounds lovely...thank you both for the suggestions

Nude patent would be good and leg lengthening and would go with loads of other stuff.

crumpette · 22/05/2010 19:19

oh yes traceybath's totally right, nude/taupe? patent would look lovely

bunnymother · 22/05/2010 19:21

Agree w Tracey, nude patent. Failing that, muted pewter.

OnlyWantsOne · 22/05/2010 19:50

mmmm nude patent heels, any one know of any?

bunnymother · 22/05/2010 21:57

Lk Bennett, Russell & Bromley and, of course!, Christian Louboutin.

Thanks - have now added nude to my list of possibles. CLs are definitely out of my price range, sadly!
