I bought a maxi/long dress today and it doesn't come down to my ankles - does that matter?

I thought it would be fine with flat galdiator sandals .

it's this

in Navy

Would it look alright ?

is it meant to go down to your feet? it doesn't look like it form the pics. How tall are you?

do you like it on? if you do it doesn't matter!

O only tend to wear maxi's that touch the floor. I think they look a bit mumsy if they are ankle or even worse calf length.

Rexy · 21/05/2010 19:51

It doesnt go down to floor as seen in the picture. I am 5 foot 4 inches.

I love it as is it cotton with a cotton lining and and the print is Indian.

Could it just be a long dress and not a floor skimming one ?

For me a maxi it has to be to the floor, and for that reason i have only just recently bought one, it is lush, however i am 5'8 so this does make it harder.

Where does it drop to on you?

Rexy · 21/05/2010 22:47

Will check in the morning and report back.

Well, it's 4 inches above my ankle bone - asked DH and he just said ' not more new clothes'

Still not sure whether to take it back .

anyone ?

Cookielove, where is yours from? I am struggling with the maxi!

FelicityMintcake · 23/05/2010 15:15

I asked this question here and apparantly it's ok.

I actually prefer them a tiny bit shorter. To the floor is a bit Stepford imo.

traceybath · 23/05/2010 15:20

I think the consensus is that they should sort of sit on the top of your foot but to be honest from ankle downwards is fine i think.

Its up to you really - mid-calf a definite no though.

jenduff · 23/05/2010 15:48

Traceybath is spot on - mid calf is a more ageing mature look

Rexy · 23/05/2010 20:25

Thanx ladies, after trying it one today and realising I won't need a bra I think I'll keep it.

Prob wear it tomorrow on the school run if it's hot.

Thanx again.
