Inspired by the "what are you wearing" thread - I love those, they always give me ideas of what to wear so........in preperation for if it's finally summer time this weekend what will you be wearing?

I have shopping on Saturday followed by a presentation event and disco in the evening. Then a tournament on Sunday morning and then a relaxing sunday afternoon, maybe a BBQ.

I'm thinking:-

maxi dress and demin jacket with gladiator sandles and bangles
or
maxi skirt and vest top with denim jacket and sandles and longline necklace
or
white lace dress I just brought with some nude accessories

or maybe some other little sundress

What about YOU?

I long for a maxi dress that works on me, as I would love the ease of just bunging it on, not having to think what to wear with it, or worry that my legs were shaved but all the ones I've tried on just have masses more material than they need and make me look huge. Where are you buying maxi dresses?

HurleySatOnMe · 20/05/2010 17:12

wooooah usualsuspect, a little warning next time eh? It's teatime you know

It's my hen do this weekend, so likely to be the following:

Tomorrow - cute new frock (am going shopping tomorrow morning)
Saturday day - muddy scrambling clothes (going to Go Ape)
Saturday evening - posh frock
Saturday night - Tudor fancy dress, drunk grin

Usualsuspect - I still can't get up off of the floor, thanks for making my afternoon!

UsualSuspect - How did you get that picture of me???

Oh I forgot I started this thread yesterday and was excited when it came up on my "threads I'm on" page but that links is just about enough to put me off coming back

I have maxi's from Next, Jane Norman and ASOS at the moment - am planning to add to them. If you don't want excess fabric Jane Norman is deffo the way to go - I have 2 maxi's from there are they are skin tight!

knee length sleeveless summer dress.

Don´t get the infatuation with maxi dresses, such a weird British fashion phenomenon that so FEW people get away with (or maybe I am just jealous that at 6ft they all look silly on me ), hovering between calf and ankle and making me look like a cross between a giraffe and an RE teacher wearing a shower curtain...

help me decide=

tribal print maxi dress- yellows and browns with shrunken denim jacket and silver glads

or
blue harem pants with grey floaty vest top and glads

Not doing anything today except hanging out with my toddler.

I shall be mostly wearing long shorts, vest tops, maxi dresses, long skirts, flip flops inside the house.
Outside I shall be wearing linen abayas, and light linen headscarves, with my birkies and socks. All non-muslims in my area will whisper:
"isn't she hot"
"fcuk's sake, makes me hot looking at her"
'shouldn't be allowed to wear that in this heat, making me feel hot"
"poor woman, look at her husband in his t-shirt, I bet he forced her to wear it"
They won't think that my abaya is light and made of linen, so just like wearing a maxi-dress, it is loose so very airy, and underneath I am mostly wearing just my underwear, maybe a pair of very short shorts. So I am extremely comfortable, and behind my shades and underneath my light headscarf I am as cool as a sodding cucumber...
