Never felt able to post in this part of MN before as I am neither Stylish nor know the first thing about beauty.

I followed the Mary Portas webchat last week, emailed in and GOT A CALL TODAY.

Ahhhhhhhhhh

I might be called up for a screen test next week. I am terrified.

Anybody else had their call yet?

What do I wear?

Do I go and show Mary how stuck in a rut I am or do I start frantically shopping for something vaguely "on trend". And if it is the latter, I seriously need some help.

Ooh, this is exciting!

I didn't follow the Mary Portas webchat so I don't know what you're being called up for.

If she's going to help you with a change of image then I'd suggest going in something you already have.

Can you give us more details of why you're going?

BigBadMummy · 18/05/2010 16:05

It was all to do with the High Street failing women over 40, or whether we felt it did.

I said I agreed, I can never buy anything on the High Street, it is demoralising and I hate it with a passion. All my clothes shopping is done on line.

So I believe a focus group is being formed with a view to Mary looking at High Streets and how they cater for us over 40s.

I am not sure we actually get a make over as such though if it did involve that I would be ecstatic.

Wondered who else had received "the call".

Oh, in that case you'll have to show Mary that you know what you're talking about when it comes to clothes and what suits you and be able to tell her what you'd like to see more of on the high street.

Do you want to splurge on something new or is there an outfit you already have that makes you feel confident?

I'M JEALOUS

wish I had emeailed now

but wnat to help ,not be made over

BigBadMummy · 18/05/2010 16:24

The only thing in my wardrobe that I have that ever made me feel confident was my wedding dress.

Turning up in that might be a tad OTT .

I do feel like a splurge (any excuse) but will need to seriously consider what it is I buy.

I know what suits me, and I know even better what doesn't suit me. But it is finding it!! I don't buy stuff on the High Street so need to find something on line.

Have credit card will surf.

V scared! Though I may be jumping the gun and might not get anywhere yet!

I doubt whether they will be checking your outfit for its trendiness! prob more interested in views

Ok, seeing as you're off for a screen test this list may be helpful. Hopefully someone with tv experience will come along and be able to tell you which bits to take notice of and which to ignore.

If you want some help finding something new then let us know what sort of colours you like and whether you want a dress or seperates.

BigBadMummy · 18/05/2010 18:06

Oh I would love some help.

Seperates normally get my vote, I am a 20 -- 22 top half and an 18 bottom.

Large of nork and big tummy but a relatively flat arse.

Short hair.

My "colours" are autumn, so greens, mustards etc, but I live in black.

Off to consult your list!
