I politely declined my beautician's offer to 'Do Something' with my top lip. She said "Are you sure Madam?"

Oh god.

It's the beginning of the end isn't it.

Go back. you don't want to look like a 70s male porn star

LaDiDaDi · 18/05/2010 09:25

Why did you decline?

Katisha · 18/05/2010 09:26

Yes but remember that a beautician's idea of normality is not necessarily how you want to be looking.

krugerparkrules · 18/05/2010 09:28

Haha - I went for a facial last month and the beautician (very kindly I must say) said well you are showing signs of ageing - and I was well I am 47 i guess that happens!
Can i join you in comfy slacks and gins...

YunoYurbubson · 18/05/2010 09:31

And, AND, when I shiftily agreed to having my feet waxed (what am I, a hobbit??) she said "And toes madam?"

Toes??

Plural??

I will admit to a couple of stray hairs on my big toes and nothing more.

Now, if anyone needs me I'll be in my happy place.

Yuno, I'm sitting in work snurking at 'what am I, a hobbit?'.
Thanks for the giggle

Pootles2010 · 18/05/2010 09:47

Yuno - she sounds a bit rubbish, mine just does my toes + feet without asking when she does my legs. Everyone has a couple of hairs on their feet... don't they?!

And don't bleach your tache either - it needs to be waxed. otherwise you will just like a German porn star rather than a spanish porn star.

orangina · 18/05/2010 09:58

I was shamed into having my 'tache threaded in BOOTS the other day when I had my brows done....

(All in public. Never again)

lovebugs · 18/05/2010 10:11

Orangina you poor thing!Hair removal in public, sounds like my worst bloody nightmare!

orangina · 18/05/2010 10:34

And she didn't even do a good job (brows ok, but upper lip came out in lovely pimply rash a few days later, much more noticeable than the original tache itself.....!)

Oh if only I could wave a magic wand and whooosh, all unwanted body hair would disappear forever...

(dreams)

BalloonSlayer · 18/05/2010 10:39

Actually I have found that my luxurient moustache, (the envy of Tom Selleck, Freddie Mercury etc) has got less apparent as I have got older.

Or would that be because my eyes have got worse...

jamaisjedors · 18/05/2010 12:33

I feel for you.

DS1 (5) pointed out that I was growing a moustache the other day.

I think as I have had some cortisone injections lately a few darker hairs have crept in.

I have tried to pluck a bit but there are about a zillion fine ones all over my face anyway.

My beautician told me NOT to do it when I asked her profesionnal honest advice.

She said the redness would be more noticeable and also it would grow back thicker and darker.

But I am SOOOO self-conscious about it now.

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 18/05/2010 12:56

I was asked when having my eyebrows threaded. Cue hand to mouth patting the area in horror. I declined but check every day now to see if I am missing something everyone else can see! Glad to hear alot of you have a few strays on your big toes, won't feel too mad about asking to have them whipped off when I get my legs done. Now who will admit to having a few strays under their belly button?

Pootles2010 · 18/05/2010 12:59

ooh yes i have them too. lovely waxing lady whisks them off when i get bikini line done. everyone gets them....don't they?

AllwaysDoingSomething · 18/05/2010 15:55

I have my top lip and eye brows threaded. I also get the odd dark hair on my chin, but I pluck those out. I'm sure hairy toes are the norm.

gailforce1 · 19/05/2010 21:16

I now have laser treatment on top lip - could'nt bear the pain of electrolosis under nose! Expensive but probably cheaper in long term than elec and waxing!
Anyone else going to admit to having to remove, dare I say it, the odd stray hair from.......their boobs? (hides bright red face at admitting this!).

Alouiseg · 19/05/2010 21:19

Yup! Nipple foliage appears occasionally.

It is removed swiftly and seriously!

8oreighty · 20/05/2010 09:50

I use my epilator on my facial hair not eyebrows of course get them waxed. But does the trick on lip and chin as leaves the finer hairs so not so bald and red afterwards.

BariatricObama · 20/05/2010 09:53

i zap the tache. it is v. aging.

BessieBoots · 20/05/2010 09:55

I don't do mine as my Dad's (female) friend used to wax her 'tache, and when she kissed me, she had stubble...

BoldChislers · 20/05/2010 10:52

i think that could be code for take an honest look at the situation, but I agree with others' view that a beautician mgiht have a slightly distorted view of normal.

Booboobedoo · 20/05/2010 10:57

What did the beautician look like, out of interest?

I only ask, because I find myself unable to take seriously 'beauty' advice from a trout-pouty, overplucked, orange-faced person.

BoldChislers · 20/05/2010 14:26

Bessie, that must have been some kiss!

Get it threaded. It's the only way.
