What jewellery would you get your DD for her 13th birthday?

DD1 is turning 13 soon and I want to get her something really lovely that she will always enjoy having. But what? I had a charm bracelet as a teenager but never really liked it, and it feels too oldfashioned now. She doesn't have her ears pierced and doesn't want to atm. I thought about a Troll bead type bracelet, but is it one of those fashionable things that will date very quickly?
People with teens - advise me please.

Links of London charm bracelets are very nice, DD and all her friends ( all 13) covet them if that helps?

My 11 year old daughter got one of these for her confirmation from her godmother. She loves it and there are loads of options for adding to it.

I bought my niece a Tiffany necklace/pendant.

A few years ago now so a bit cheaper but some aren't as expensive as you might think.

Her inevitable response to being asked, is "I don't need anything", Cat.

I don't have a DD so I don't have experience of what is the norm today, but I received a strand of pearls for my 13th from my parents. Many of my friend's received a nice watch.

True and sensible, Cat. I guess it is just that I view 13 as a rite of passage that ought to be marked in some tangible way.
See I would love get her pearls or a Tiffany necklace but I wonder if I would be doing it for me not her.
Bah. Will think about this some more.

I was given a silver Russian wedding ring for my 21st. They're not expensive, very comfortable and quite discreet. I still wear mine now, though not every day, and love it. Rolling it up and down my finger was also quite addictive, and possibly a bit annoying, but I guess at least it stopped me twirling my hair as a teenager.

May I congratulate you on having a nearly teenager who says she doesn't need anything, by the way!
