Please help me with outfit for Chelsea Flower Show!

I have been once before with a friend. We were quite casual in smart linen trousers and a top - as were most people there.

This year, DH's company are having a "corporate hospitality" day there and I have been invited too. Dress code is "smart-casual".

Initial thoughts were a maxi. However, if it rains I will end up looking like a Glastonbury wannabe rather than chic

Second idea was to go funky chic rather than lady-like: candy pink skinnies, pearl-grey Armani fitted jacket, grey loose-fit tank, floral scarf and ballet flats (you walk ALOT a the flower show so heels are definite no-no).

Thoughts & suggestions most welcome

I have no real idea about a posh outfit as I have only been as a pleb. But if i had to choose i woudl go for the trousres rathan than the maxi.

I'm going this year on the Thursday - hope you have a lovely time . Remember to check out MN for advice on the best gardens to see. Or will you be spending all your time hobnobbing with slebs and scoffing the free champagne?

Thanks Kristina

I think I will be better in trousers too. I am conscious of my slight cankles so would feel a bit "short & stumpy" wearing flats with a knee length skirt/dress. Not too bad looking with a tan but the last stress I need is trying to fake tan perfect enough to be shown in broad daylight at posh do!

Am hoping to be combining free champers with plenty of garden viewing

What are you planning on wearing Kristina?

Any other ideas or views?

I have been invited as a client of a company and it is "smart casual" dress - I have to say I am going to be at work in the morning and will be going in more or less what I am wearing to work - maybe a bit less officey/more sophisticated - but certainly nothing thought out!

I went last year, wore a strapless maxi with gold strappy flats and looked rather good

was about 22 weeks pg though so everything looked good. And it was not raining.

Hi Cake -

I really wanted to do the maxi thing but am concerned about the weather and also having trouble finding one I can really fall in love with......if I can find one then I will buy. That way I can really infuriate DH on the morning by changing from one outfit to another until I can decide!
