Clear out going well?

I think a denim jacket is fine at 38.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 10/05/2010 14:02

Just started.

Put 2 jumpers away for the summer.

I really ought to be doing other jobs around the house.

passmyglassplease · 10/05/2010 14:06

I am 44 and wearing a lovely denim jacket right now,

its not about fashion its having your own style

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 10/05/2010 14:07

Oh blimey. I have none of that.

Well I'm 35 and love mine. Fashion per the mags is that it's OK to wear both denim jacket and jeans this summer but I'm not convinced (maybe OK with white jeans). Go for it!

Elemental · 10/05/2010 14:25

Don't be silly, it's absolutely fine!

epithet · 10/05/2010 14:26

I hope not! I have one and I'm 40.

LostArtOfKeepingASecret · 10/05/2010 14:27

I hope not, I'm, ahem, a bit older than you and have just bought a new one.

sethstarkaddersmum · 10/05/2010 14:29

Nigella gets away with it.

diddl · 10/05/2010 14:43

"Nigella gets away with it."

That´s a matter of opinion I would say!

TBH I think they almost always look scruffy & spoil an outfit.

traceybath · 10/05/2010 14:54

Of course you can but it needs to be fashionable - not big and baggy and shapeless.

Short and fitted.

Look good with dresses and skirts or rolled up chinos.

Despite the magazines telling us double-denim is in - I think its not a good look unless you are 22 and live in hoxton.

ConnorTraceptive · 10/05/2010 14:58

I think if you were old enough to do double denim the first time round then you are too old the second time! Other than that a denim jacket is fine.

I've just bought one

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 10/05/2010 15:16

Denim jacket with something unexpected - fine.

Double denim - not unless you want to look like Shakin'Stevens or my MIL.

Nearly always looks nicer with a fab scarf.

LetThemEatCake · 10/05/2010 15:22

37, wore one today.
Keep. As long as nice, of course.

RunforFun · 10/05/2010 15:24

I'm 41 and still have a denim jacket which i wear woith linen pants in the summer.

Shudder at the double denim idea...

purplepeony · 10/05/2010 17:59

I'm 55 and wear one.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 10/05/2010 18:04

Well, I guess it isn't trendy as I bought it from Sainsbury's when some designer was doing their clothes.

pinkhousesarebest · 10/05/2010 18:06

I have a lovely APC one from years ago, I am loving wearing it again. I will never see forty again.

BeLove · 10/05/2010 18:07

I'm over 40 and want one. can anyone point me in the direction of some cool ones? links would be useful

MrsSantos · 10/05/2010 18:12

Stuff the age/clothes police = if you like it wear it

I don't like double denim and never did. I enjoy laughing quietly at the numpties fashion concious people who are wearing it now. Two words Shakin' and Stevens ... or howabout Status and Quo??

DumpyOldWoman · 10/05/2010 18:15

I am old enough to have done double denim the first time round, but have more sense now - and had more sense then, too!

Denim jacket - FINE.

LostArtOfKeepingASecret · 10/05/2010 18:23

at grumpy's recommendation to wear with something unexpected. I'm having visions of wearing mine with a ball gown or p'haps a bikini for the school run.
