Help with summer work outfits

I need some help from you fashion mavens. The shit weather means i can carry on with my usual winter wardrobe of smart dresses, pencil skirts, long sleeved tops or shirts, and high boots for a bit longer, but soon i'll be roasting.

i'm a size 10-12, pear shaped, the only trousers that suit me are wide-leg ones. i can't walk in heels, and i have fluorescent white legs and can't be arsed to fake tan. i also have wide feet and find most ballet pumps excruciating.

what can i wear?

Oh it is difficult isn't it. M&S sometimes have nice linen/cotton mix wide legged trousers in pale grey etc but I haven't seen any this year yet. I'd quite like some of those with a little fitted short sleeved jacket and a cami underneath, so I hope they will bring some out.

Pencil skirt and nude fishnets, with flattish or slightly wedged MaryJanes perhaps?

babyphat · 11/05/2010 22:33

ooh i like both those ideas, thanks janeite!

Are you looking for used or new items, babyphat?

Tootiredforgodtyping · 12/05/2010 12:20

I have these which I wear with a vest top and this shirt

I have also bought this dressin blue which I will wear with slim trousers or bare legs if its really hot . I might put a short sleeved dress under it.

A lot of women at work have started to wear these style of trousers, I've just ordered them from fat face...

I'll be wearing ballet pumps with all of these as I have to go in the lab sometimes at work so can not wear open top shoes.

Unfortunately those trousers are both too casual for my work. The second ones would only suit a very relaxed environment, I think. I like the shape of that wrap shirt though.

Last year I had some plain beige trousers from Monsoon, very smart quite wide legged yet thin cotton and summery.

How about some lighter fabric trousers, with short sleeved button up shirts? or elbow-length sleeved smart fitted tees?

I share the pale leg issue too and hate it

Or a normal pencil skirt (charcoal grey not black) with a normal top and some lighter coloured shoes, tan or nude leather perhaps? I think very fine 7 denier tights are OK in summer if you're comfortable

or some smart dresses with some sandals (not flip flops obviously) I think your legs will be excused on the whole especially when it gets to really hot summer days, nobody will care if they are bare or not etc, comfort is more important. example dress shirt shirt shirt
trousers trousers
shoes
well not those items exactly but you get the general idea, if you work in a v conservative environment
