Love this dress by Manoush. I have just ordered the very last one from ASOS in the rose colourway - check out the "view catwalk" option to see that shade.

However, am now having a wobble.......is it nice or nasty?? I am size 8, small C-cup (so not a prob not wearing bra - dress is backless and wont allow) . It's for a smart-casual event.......and yes, I know this is the 3rd post this week on this topic from me.....I apologise profusely

It's a beautiful dress.

If it's for a smart-casual event, what are you going to wear it with?

MrsMotMot · 07/05/2010 20:28

As you are very slim, I think it will be fine, make sure you have a good (fake) tan if you are pale at all though, that rose colour could be very draining.

What shoes please?!

OliviaMumsnet · 07/05/2010 20:30

Think it's fun but maybe OTT for a smart/cas event -depending on event? (party- fine, bbq - mebbe not?)
Is a little bit gapey, even on presumably size 8 model - round the underarms and a bit at the back but if you like it, why not?

CybilLiberty · 07/05/2010 20:32

I cant believe the reduction on that dress!

What shoes will you be wearing? Are you dressing it down if its smart/cas?

tulpe · 07/05/2010 20:34

I was going to dress it down with a pale (but warm) grey shrunken jacket and a floral print thin cotton scarf (base colour slate grey, delicate looking pale pink roses with sage green foliage).

Footwear-wise, was thinking of peep toe heels in a grey or nude shade?

Do you think I could dress it down further with soft grey leggings or would that look crap?

Thing is, even if I don't wear for this event, tis such a gorgeous dress that I feel it would be criminal not to buy at that price! Just don't want to look mutton.

I like it
Hope it fits you better than the model on the catwalk

BelleDameSansMerci · 07/05/2010 20:35

Love it! Wish I was still young enough to wear a dress like that.

pointydog · 07/05/2010 20:36

I think you could look fabulous in it

EldonAve · 07/05/2010 20:36

no to leggings

yes to the shoes

CybilLiberty · 07/05/2010 20:37

I would forgo the leggings

pointydog · 07/05/2010 20:37

not with leggings, no!

tulpe · 07/05/2010 20:37

OliviaMN/Cyb - tis a charidee jazz evening in marquee in someone's "back garden" in St Johns Wood. The last time they had a "smart cas" event, it was their housewarming. I went in smart jeans with heels and a slinky sweater.......I was distinctly under-dressed!

OP posts:
CybilLiberty · 07/05/2010 20:37

go for it

tulpe · 07/05/2010 20:39

Yes, wasn't convinced about the leggings.....I thank you sincerely for your honesty!

I have to say, the fact that it is loose rather than tight fit is what appeals to me. I am hoping it gives that insouciant SJP vibe......rather than Liz MacDOnald!!

traceybath · 07/05/2010 20:39

Lovely dress but yes - don't wear leggings.

bunnymother · 07/05/2010 20:41

Ditch the leggings. Apart from that, sounds like an amazing outfit!!

tulpe · 10/05/2010 11:12

The dress arrived this morning.

Tis minging.

It is cheap and nasty looking. Explains the mahoosive reduction.

Ho-hum. Back to the drawing board.

Was just about to post cheap & trashy.

EldonAve · 10/05/2010 16:38

how disappointing

clothesandbabies · 17/05/2010 18:15

I've just been in the same situation..... Ordered what I thought was going to be the dress to change my life :0) , Only to have it turn up and be completely not what I expected, ended up swapping for a manoush coat dress, which I love, but am wearing the coat as the only part of my outfit!! hope I dont get to hot, as i CANNOT take the coat off! need a very simple something to wear underneath..

SuSylvester · 17/05/2010 18:16

too flashy for
a) summer
b) smart cas

SuSylvester · 17/05/2010 18:17

what about this with the jeacket etc

SuSylvester · 17/05/2010 18:21

ooh ooh what about this?

tulpe · 17/05/2010 20:03

SuSylvester - it would have been perfect for this particular "smart casual" invite (they are never knowingly underdressed by any stretch of the imagination!). But sadly twas not to be.

However, I am now very happy with the red jersey maxi I bought in DPs. It is understated glam plus I can wear it with flat sandals (always a bonus) and can even wear leggings beneath if it is chuffing cold (which it is bound to be!)

SuSylvester · 17/05/2010 20:04

ooh ye sand a nice pair of thermal pants
