Hollister or should that be Hole-ister?

DD went to Westfield on Sunday clutching saved up allowance and came home with a piece of crap from Hollister.
Now I do understand raw edges, but this top had big holes along the hems- looked as if someone had worn it for 10 years and given it to the charity shop. And it was £25 IN THE SALE!!!
Needless to say I am returning it -having to make a special trip to Westfield (oh the hardship).
Such a rip off. Yet the teens see it as the Holy Grail, alongside A & F.
I've alsio got to return a Superdry tshirt for the 2nd time with holes- look like moths, but none of our things have holes- and we've only had the top for a week.
Thank goodness for Uniqlo (sensible emoticon)

Oh I think that's the point.

Superdry are the worst I think, their tops look like you have unearthed them from the dogh basket.

DD was ashamed of me the last time we went into Hollister in Cabot Circus - I just walked around and moaned 'how the bloody hell can you see anything in this shop' and kept on bumping into tanned lovelies with Diana Vickers hair (aka the shop assistants) who were standing vacantly in random corners like pot plants.

Hate the shop. DD loves it. Ditto Cult, Jack Wills and Abercrombie.

I am thinking of wearing a hard hat with a torch on it to venture into Holister.
And yes GOML, the pot plants have more personality than the sales staff.

I was like an old woman who had never been into a shop.

'how can you see the prices on the clothes tag when they light the whole shop with 1 40watt lightbulb'

Mind you, it is a lot cheaper than Amercromgie and Jack Wills so is probably worth it.

had to lol at this!

yes that is the point it looks worn and beachy

funky shop but damn its hard to see in there! double buggies just don't go around!

DH loves hollister bits now i have lost weight i will go back and nosy!

madmissy · 05/05/2010 09:56

BUT has anyone noticed small holes appearing in Next childrens clothes??

the quality has nose dived, i took back 2 sets of leggings (matching dd's) as after a week they had holes in seams and small holes in other areas! i got a refund but still!?

I was close to starting a thread a few weeks aho about hollister...

BUT stopped for fear of sound old.. which btw I don't think i am !

I have walked past this store loads which shopping at the trafford centre, seen loads of people entering and leaving the store, walking about with bags of stuff, seen the tops with their logo etc..

So dd (4) and I decided a fews ago to venture in...Now, it looks dark inside from outside BUT once in its madness.....

How the feck can they sell items when you can't even see what you are buying..?
I guess thats their aim, buy our shit that you can't see...

The smell in there as well......you can "smell" the shop from outside iykwim. Is that a selling ploy..?

Dd and I both loked at each other and agreed to leave, we had only walked in, turned around and left.
Even dd said how awful the clothes were..

WHY..........?!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 05/05/2010 11:37

I used to love Hollister when I could only get it in the US - and cheap there too!

I have a fair bit from there and have to say some of it is really good quality (I have had a well-worn T-shirt from there for 3 years and it's as good as new).

Am a bit put off now it's worn to death by ten-year-olds and sold by pretentious sixteen year olds affecting American accents (hilarious with a Sheffield twang a la Meadowhall).

Shame I love their jeans so much.

DecorHate · 05/05/2010 11:41

I wouldn't go into our nearest Hollister because I couldn't work out where the door was and didn't want to look stupid trying to get in through a window or something! Went in with dd who of course thought it was fab

I really don't get the darkness thing. Before A&F became so popular dh used to shop in there a lot whenever he went to the US for work and I bought a few things from there - it was properly lit back then...

GetOrfMoiLand · 05/05/2010 11:48

Iam so glad it's not me complaining about the fact it's bloody pitch black in there.

And it is laid out so badly. I tried to get to the checkout desk, but was trapped and had to clamber through a bloody massive spider plant.

God I really embarrassed dd that day
