Will someone explain Paul's Boutique bags to me.

SIL (42)has one and I must be missing the point here. It looked as if a child had got a plastic bag from the charity shop and customised it with glittery random crap.
I overhead a friend say she was going to buy her 11 year old one after SATS
Who are they aimed at?

Who is Paul? Did he get sick of his friends dropping in for a poo and go into the handbag business?

Haha, have just had a look at them, and they are uuuugleee! Even the fairly normal bags seem to have some sort of dangly crap around the handle (mind you: I take off the dangler immediately on even a Radley bag, which has fairly understated danglers!)

I do hope it's not your SIL's only handbag, but a "fun" (and not everyday) accessory! Ugh.

thesecondcoming - would you like to adopt me - you appear to have a fab handbag collection and I would love to be allowed to borrow a tods bag (Could i borrow the prada one as well - I promise to look after it!)

OMG, I've just looked them up, not having a clue . Hideous. Wht cant you get a Tescos handbag and some claires accessories crap to go on it? Ther's even one on ebay that is currently at £26 plus post, even though the fastener is broken??!!

My friend's DD and her mates are mad on them! at a 42 year old having one!!

ClaireDeLoon · 05/05/2010 09:55

There was a young girl had one of these on the tube today, it was huge and taking up loads of space as she shoved it into the poor lady in the seat next to her. I looked at the label and thought - never heard of it, it's not even very nice. Just huge.

mangoandlime · 05/05/2010 10:18

They look like Barbie handbags but bigger. A clear cut case of 'they cost a packet ergo I must have one despite them being vile' school of thought. I saw a pic of one once and it was bloody hideous! You wouldn't have bought it in the sale in Claire's.

MrsMorgan · 05/05/2010 10:20

Oh my dd (12) wants one of them for her birthday. I am hoping she goes off the idea. Loads of girls in her year and above have them.

weblette · 05/05/2010 10:24

Here you go mangoandlime

mangoandlime · 05/05/2010 10:24

And I see they have a Barbie range. Spot on then not mega bucks either but still far more than they're worth IMO . Grimsville

mangoandlime · 05/05/2010 10:27

Can't see any usernames but thanks for the linky, I just don't get it.

WingedVictory · 05/05/2010 10:33

Thanks for that link, weblette! Ugh, ugh, ugh.

superv1xen · 05/05/2010 19:30

oh god where i live the town is crawling with teenage girls proudly toting them. they are gross.

some of the styles seem to be blatantripoffs loosely based on the chloe paddington.

MrsMeow · 05/05/2010 20:13

There's been an abundance of these in my teeny town recently. They must have just caught on

I think they look awful, like you could buy them for £10 in Claires or somewhere. My 9 year old DD would probably love one, not sure about a 42 year old having one though!

look at this beauty!

wineismysaviour · 06/05/2010 08:29

O M G. I think I may throw up.

WingedVictory · 06/05/2010 23:39

Oh, no, MrsMeow, THERE'S NO APOSTROPHE, on that bag, either! Pauls Boutique, indeed. Appauling.

PiratePrincess · 07/05/2010 00:00

OMG - a bag for £99 for school?!?!?
