Gah - help me to find some nice work clothes!!

Trousers in particular.

I need to refresh my working wardrobe.

I need nice smart clothes that are also comfy - work is painful enough.

I do not like my legs so please don't suggest mini skirts or mini dresses that I can't wear opaque tights under. (Even then I wouldn't be sure).

What I really want are new trousers and below the knee skirts. All I can find that aren't jeans are ridiculous harem pants and frumpy tapered legged M&S 'I've worked too long in Accounts' type things.

I would like bootcut, long leg, stylish trousers.

Why is it so bloody hard to find nice work clothes??!!

HELP!!!

again good for summer

luciemule · 05/05/2010 11:56

more pricey ones but good qulaity and would last for years

have you got a Banana Republic near you? They have stuff that would be great for work (if I had a job which required even a teeny amount of dressing up, which I don't!) A bit more expensive than M&S but not outrageous - and their stuff lasts. I have a cardi that I bought around 14 years ago which I wear a lot and still looks perfect....

GREAT, thanks guys. Sorry I haven't replied sooner, been at work all day.

I'm off to do some browsing through your suggestions!

THANK YOU.

I recommend going to a really large M&S and trying on every single pair of trousers they possess until you find the right shape - then buy five pairs in various colours.

They do have a lot of frumpy shapes, but they also have some decent ones.

omydarlin · 05/05/2010 19:37

we have a Banana Republic discount store in Portsmouth it is very bargainous

krugerparkrules · 05/05/2010 19:46

I agree with DilysPrice, i did this recently, went to a department store, and took every black / blue pair of pants in my size from every label! Found a great pair and also tried on every shape, look etc, the pair i eventually got i would not have picked up normally off the rail!

OK, thanks for the advice.

Thing is, I've boycotted M&S (long story but basically down to their appalling customer service when I tried to send some of their crap furniture back) and there isn't a Banana Republic near me.

I tend to order online.

at omydarlin's discount BR shop.

Don't buy linen trousers though, honestly they'll go all crumply and rubbish

TheBolter · 06/05/2010 21:02

Thanks Norkily, I discovered that last year!!
