Birkenstock-style sandals for girls size 1 - have you seen any anywhere on the High St?

I desperately need to get DD some sandals as we're off on holiday in less than 4 weeks.

We've just spent a couple of hours traipsing around town but can't find any suitable ones.

The ones in the shop are all strappy, gladiator style spangly be-jewelled things which are foul no good -totally impractical, would rub her feet and ankles to shreds and wouldn't fit properly (very narrow feet).

She had some great Birkenstock type ones last year that were great but we couldn't find any similar ones .

Surely somewhere must stock them??

Next have them. Also Sainsburys had some last year IIRC.

here, not exactly same but similar?

NorbertDentressangle · 02/05/2010 16:45

Thanks TW'sTrousers

IIRC last years were from Next -will check there again although I didn't see any today.

We went to Sainsburys but its not a particularly big one so they hardly had any footwear at all

X'd posts -they definitely didn't have those in stock. She'd probably quite like those and seems to get on OK with toe-posts.

Last years were more like the Birkenstock Arizona style with 2 straps across the foot

Just looked at next and they do have the ones you want but they are in Younger Girls section and only go to a size 12.

Have you tried getting proper Birkenstocks? I have had several pairs from this place and they were very quick and efficient.

TBH I don't really want to spend that much on some proper Birkies as I know for a fact she'll wear her £2 flip-flops more than any sandals.

Sandals were more for when we go for longer walks, out for meals etc on hol -bit smarter than flipflops

We went to John Lewis 2 weeks ago and they had a fabbo half price sandal sale. I got DS some clarks sandals for £13 but there was an excellent choice also of girls ones. See also here, though not high street and Clhere for Clarks' site. They can order the selection of styles and size you want into the nearest store for you, which is quite handy.

Seen some in Tesco's today, dd1 had some from Next last year, this year i have bought her the clarks doodle sandals.

I obviously need to find some bigger supermarkets as I checked our nearest Tesco too but they didn't have any.
