What trousers this season?

I need new trews, I live in one pair of jeans that get washed and dried overnight. I want something summery.

I am a solid size 14 with 36" legs therefore my choice is limited. Feel too hefty in leggings. Tried some pleat waisted roll up chinos on earlier but they made my arse look enormous. As do skinny jeans. I don't want to go for capri pants, the scourge of the middle aged woman.

What's stylish that might suit me?

Watching with interest

me too...

It was probably the pleats of the chinos that had the fattifying effect, so might be worth finding a pair with a flat front.

Something like this?

I was a bit suspicious of them, but now have a pair (Topshop) and am wearing them loads.

Now, funnily enough, I went to Gap on Saturday and happened to buy that exact pair of chinos! I am still a bit concerned that they look a bit too much like middles aged crapi pants, but DH says they will look fine as long as I don't wear gold pumps with them! They look nice with the sandals in that photo, I think it's all in the shoes.

I was thinking of a pair of navy linen trousers. They are everywhere - New Look for budget pair, Zara, Next, Jigsaw etc

bobbiewickham · 03/05/2010 20:25

Lol at "crapi pants".

Nice trousers though. You'll look lovely.

AnyFucker · 03/05/2010 20:26

I have those Gap trousers in Plum's link

They are fab

If worn loose they don't look like middle-aged ladies capri keks but like cool yummy mummy casual throw-ons

Wear with heels if you like (I don't because am already very tall) but I wear mine with a racer-back vest, Birkies and a bit of attitude

CrankyTwanky · 03/05/2010 20:33

What if one is dumpy though?
Surely cropped trews are not your friend?

Agree re navy linen palazo-style strides.
I've always found River Island make the least unflattering for me. (5'5'',14 but mostly body and stumpy legs.)

bobbiewickham · 03/05/2010 20:44

I think I might have them.

I like them so much I bought a second pair in the sale for a tenner.

Which is what is making me think they can't be the same ones.

duckyfuzz · 03/05/2010 20:53

jigsaw trousers are nice and long

MarionCole · 03/05/2010 20:55

I've been wearing them today with Birkies anyfucker.
