Because it's the next best thing to a lapdance.

Well it is where I get my hair cut, anyway.

And they get a scalp massage.

Good job they have to wear those cape thingies.

PeppaPigot · 29/04/2010 15:37

oh its sad
please stop
there was a fireman telling us who he was going to vote for.
i gritted my teeth.

They love having the backs of their necks shaved.

And they look all pleased and nod when they get shown the back with the little mirror.

I mean, it's the back of a neck.

Not an elaborate chignon.

BeenBeta · 29/04/2010 16:14

Why not?

I used to have my hair done in a salon in Pimlico (London) with a lot of blue rinse old ladies. Quite a few MPs used to pop in for a tidy up between votes as well.

Very convivial it was.

onepieceoflollipop · 29/04/2010 16:17

A fireman you say? Was he in uniform?

My hairdresser reliably informs me that years ago there were little cubicles in ladies salons, so that other customers couldn't see you with wet hair etc.

Bet a man would've been thrown out.

bobbiewickham · 29/04/2010 16:17

You are allowed in blue rinse establishments.

Just not trendy salons.

BeenBeta · 29/04/2010 16:36

Oh no I wouldnt be caught dead in a trendy salon.

The lady that used to do me in Pimlico was Iranian. Did what I asked, gentle hands, exotic perfume, knew how to make good coffee. We used to talk about Middle Eastern Politics sometimes.

You dont get that kind of service from a young slip of a girl, with pink hair and a hook through her nose. "Going anywhere nice on holiday sir?"

PeppaPigot · 29/04/2010 16:39

they did do the holiday line!

Beta my dh goes to the local barber. Once he had to take the dds as I was at work, he went armed with colouring books, raisins etc.

My dh regretted taking them as he discovered the barber has a tin of freddo bars and a stash of children's books. Our dds had a lovely afternoon out!

overmydeadbody · 29/04/2010 16:44

Surely if a man chooses to waste £25 having his hair trimmed and neck shaved at a poncy salon it is up to him?

What do I know though, I wouldn't be cought dead wasting my money in a salon.

BeenBeta · 29/04/2010 16:46

Peppa - are you a stylist then .... and more importantly do you have pink hair and a hook through your nose?

shhhh · 29/04/2010 21:20

why not..? dh goes to toni and guy and pays more for his hair cut than I do for a cut and colour at a local salon...

Good on him imo.
