Yay or nay?

all depends on the dress and the tights me thinks.

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 28/04/2010 22:13

I am generally pro coloured tights. And dresses. Why is the sleevelessness of the dress significant?

Nevergoogle · 28/04/2010 22:16

I think i know what you mean, coloured tights, dress alway looks good if long sleeves or cardigan. sleeveless isn't as nice.
not a definite no-no though.

moondog · 28/04/2010 22:16

Why not if one gives good arm?

Is it sort of Mary Portas style d'you reckon?

I lkie her clothes.

I feel too that colour pallet limited.

Grey, brown, purple.

I can't be doing with green or yellow.

Reminds me of fat girwith short legs in school who laways wore coloured tights

Dark blue is good.

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 28/04/2010 22:22

I am a fat girl old trout with short legs. I always wear coloured tights.

I'll get my coat.

moondog · 28/04/2010 22:48

Dark blue, yes, would be great. Really great.
I've never seen dark blue tights. Whence from?
Flower, what colours do yuo do then?

OP posts:
ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 28/04/2010 23:03

Well, I do

navy blue
mid blue
teal
slate grey
purple
aubergine
olive green
pillar box red
burgundy

I do own a lot of tights.

moondog · 28/04/2010 23:07

Blimey.
Where do you buy them all?

OP posts:
Nevergoogle · 28/04/2010 23:10

i bought dark blue tights in a funny little independent shop in edinburgh. that's of no use to you at all i'm sure.

moondog · 28/04/2010 23:11

Er no, but thanks anyway.

Well, I'm a bit of a tights kleptomaniac and buy them when I see them (except not so much this year as I signed up to Penthesileia's buy nothing thread). They mostly come from M&S, T K Maxx and French supermarkets.

Clary · 28/04/2010 23:13

ladies, ladies ladies.

The time for wearing tights, coloured or otherwise, is now past.

Unless for wedding or interview.

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 28/04/2010 23:14

No. The time for abandoning tights is not quite upon us. But it is fast approaching.

Nevergoogle · 28/04/2010 23:15

or if you live in scotland and the summer never quite happens.

Jbck · 28/04/2010 23:22

n'er cast a cloot till may is oot!

Clary · 28/04/2010 23:26

Oh come on.

Have you really all been wearing tights, coats, scarves and gloves this week?

It's been scorching here, well at any rate too hot to, for example, run in the daytime.

I went for a run at 3pm last week adn felt sick. Even running at 7.30pm today I was getting very warm.

Haven't worn tights for at least 3 weeks here.

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 28/04/2010 23:40

Coat, scarf, gloves - no.

Tights - yes (but did have to resort to sheer tights one day. Oh the shame).

Clary · 28/04/2010 23:41

I'm just showing off with the running anecdote, aren't I?

What's so bad abotu sheer tights anyway (apart from the fact that they rarely last one wearing with me)?

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 28/04/2010 23:49

The fact that your running was a week ago makes me less intimidated!

My browsing of S&B threads indicates that sheer tights are regarded by MN's style mavens as hopelessly last century. They probably are - but they do span the gap between opaques and naked legs!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 28/04/2010 23:50

As I read this thread, I just had an e-mail from Tightsplease ping into my inbox!

Clary - you are officially the warmest person on MN, it is not warm enough to shed tights yet, or wear cropped trousers!

Moondog I think it is quite Mary Portas. I think you would need something fairly significant in the way of a bangle otherwise your arms would look too naked.

I only have grey and brown opaques, v.borning. I've been wondering what to wear in the way of tights now that it's getting warmer. Can you wear non-opaque coloured tights or is that too old lady-ish? Can you even buy such a thing??

God I hate spring. Autumn is sooo easy in comparison.

Clary · 29/04/2010 00:25

Noo no I went runnign today as well! I just held off till the evening so as not to get too hot.

I think I need some summer running stuff tho

It's not just me with no tights tho, no-one has been wearing them herabouts for weeks.

A pal was wearing a very smart dress today with bare legs, and very nice she looked too. Not a goosebump in sight. Honest it was 21 degrees out today!
