So do I keep this Boden skirt or not ?

This is the article in question www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Skirts/Knee-Length-Skirts/WG366/Womens-Striped-Pencil-Skirt.html?NavGro upID=13

I think I like it but not too sure how much I would use it and even with 15% discount it's a bit more than I would normally spend on a skirt ( although this could be because I usually shop at Sainsburys or M&S).

The stripes are bold and although horizontal it doesn't look unflattering although I am a size 14. Can see me wearing it on holiday with a white top, but not sure if I could use at work.

Any thoughts ladies ?

do you mind everyone knowing you are wearing a boden skirt?

rookiemater · 27/04/2010 12:51

Sadly not really at least they will know I haven't got it from Sainsburys and I haven't seen anyone else wearing it ( perhaps with good reason) unlike the Boden macs which are practically de rigeur for drop off at a certain school that I pass on my way into work.

I think it's sweet. A keeper.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 27/04/2010 12:52

You are only thinking you like it so for nearly £60 I would send it back. If it was a few quid it wouldn't matter too much if you only wore it a few times.

bunnymother · 27/04/2010 13:19

Agree w Fab, if you loved it, you should get it. But it sounds like you are not sure. Personally, I don't like it - lollipop colours, but its your taste that matters here, not mine.

rookiemater · 27/04/2010 13:32

Maybe I'm getting surer, my reaction when I read Fabs response was to think it's my skirt and I want to keep it.

If I'm not sure about something I have bought I always return it, as it usually means I don't love it or it doesn't really suit me. I have to say I have never regretted returning clothes, only keeping things that I have ended up not wearing and wasting money!

uggmum · 27/04/2010 14:02

I really like it, but I am a regular Boden shopper.
I only have a 10% code though, any chance you could share the 15% off code.

boogeek · 27/04/2010 14:05

I really like it - I've looked at it every time they send me a catalogue (almost weekly) and been tempted It is pricey for a skirt though so if you don't think you will wear it often then perhaps you should return it.

thehillsarealive · 27/04/2010 14:07

I like it, like the colours and the length etc, but on me it would look yuk, and I dont wear skirts very often. It is nice though.

rookiemater · 27/04/2010 14:16

Thanks everyone.
My friend has just been over and I tried it on to see what she thought and she said it was lovely, so I am keeping it.

Due to discount it is £50 rather than £60, still expensive for me though. However am returning unpleasant Photographers jacket with no collar that made me look like Chairman Mao, bog standard t shirt with too long body and odd jersey cardigan that rave reviews ( do you think they write those themselves ?) convinced me to try, so really I am actually saving lots of money.

Uggmum 15% discount code is LNSP, hope you find something you like.

I really like it and it doesn't look to 'Bodeny' either.

Think of all the colours you could wear with it as well as white.

rookiemater · 27/04/2010 16:06

Thanks boogywoogy and others that said they liked it -arrgh am I turning into one of those AIBUers who refuse to listen to anything except their own point of view ?

I love it

uggmum · 27/04/2010 22:41

Thanks for the code, bought some lovely items x

kittya · 27/04/2010 22:41

I got it ages ago with the ten pound off and I love it. Its really flattering. I think it will be great for the cruise Im going on. Trouble is, I havent a clue what to flipping wear with it.... And, tanned legs are a must!

rookiemater · 27/04/2010 22:49

Glad you got some stuff uggmum.

See you nailed the problem with it kittya. I suspect it might look naff with flesh coloured tights but live in Scotland so milk bottled pins are the norm. Oh well it is fabulous, la la la la la......

I would say its very much a holiday skirt, a holiday somewhere hot that is!! It is very pretty though and surprisingly flattering. I think more muted colours would make it more practical. I havent been too moved by their clothes this time.

Magaly · 28/04/2010 17:21

not keen.

They do do some nice skirts, but that aint one of them. Send it back and get a nice one.
