HELP - I have looked everywhere for casual summer clothes but cant find anything to wear tops-wise. I have nice white capri trousers which should see me through, a couple of dresses - but where do you find nice tops to wear??? I have looked everywhere in all usual high street shops and also online - I cant be doing this nude colouring thing, it doesn't work with my skin tones. Ideally looking for tunic tops to wear over the said white capris - ie the sort of thing you can live in for the Summer. I dont want anything tight or polyester-ish. My style is more classic than boho. I have looked at some tops on Boden but most have gone back Please please give me some advice or any brilliant websites that I could look at! I'm 5'6, a size 10 and on the early side of 40!

good question! i'm used to my knitted dresses and leggings and don't have a clue where to start with summer clothes so I will be watching with interest

Have you tried esprit?

Why a tunic? You're tall and slipm - don't cover up with a tunic.

Depending on budget I'd look in H&M, New Look, Jigsaw and Comptoir des Cottoniers.

I've got this in the red stripe that I'm planning to wear with white skinnies.

Thanks all so far, some great suggestions. Traceybath - Feel like I am developing a muffin top of late so hence the penchant for tunic tops! Its like a security blanket knowing all my bits are covered!! Dont live near a Comptoirs store, are they online??

Comptoirs isn't online unfortunately.

I just think tunics are dull and make most people look a bit frumpy/possibly pregnant.

I'd look for tops that drape/skim but still show off your figure.

I 2nd Tracey's advice to be cautious re tunic tops. I have found a few good tops in H&M, as well as Zara. Neither are online (why why why not???) though, so how about a browse on ASOS.com if you are wanting to shop online?

Tunics

Seb1 and Bunnymother - Great advice thanks will check out those shops/websites and also asos.com, always curious about that website as it seems to pop up a lot in magazines etc, but never bought from there before. This is a real in-between time of year, I could be in boots, woolly socks and a black parka today its so cold and dreary!!!
