Outfit help for 80's themed party

we've been invited to a party next month, friend's 40th, 80's theme. I really need some help in finding an outfit. I'm 5'9" size 12. Budget small(ish) ideally £50-£60. Would prefer trousers to skirt/dresses, but I'm open minded. I've got to go to work now, but I'll be back around later this afternoon. thanks in advance.

Jumpsuit!

Something like this or this with stilettos and an 80s belt and earrings from a charity shop.

THere is masses out there at the mo so you are in luck. At the risk of outing myself I am going to a 80's do soon and will be wearing bright pink bat wing off the shoulder top from H&M £10 with black vest top underneath so the strap shows (think Flashdance look), black leggings and black ankle boots, wide black belt at hips, BIIIGGG earrings and bigger hair!! Blue eyeliner essential of course

very cheap but could probably achieve the same effect with a bin bag

skinny jeans, "relax t shirt" with the sleeves cut out, chunky leather belts round hips, loads of cheap bangles. human league style make up

(this is assuming that you don't want to pull of course!)

Thanks all for your replies. I hadn't considered a jumpsuit, so will look more into that. Also like willali's suggestion. Thanks again. Anyone else got any ideas?

whatever you do, you also need to crimp your hair, and wear flourescent socks/sweatbands/hair band.

shell suit

Rent "The Wedding Singer" and study what Drew Barrymore's friend wears . . . or try this website www.liketotally80s.com/80s-makeup.html

Some random ideas:
Acid wash skinny jeans with ankle zips
two or three different skinny belts in bright colors worn together
really oversized white shirt
bright coloured courts worn with lacy ankle socks
huge colourful earrings
small shoulder bag with long skinny strap
fuchsia lipstick
eyeliner with slight upward flick at outside (not to Amy Winehouse level, however)
NON-subtle pink blush -- think stripe

Remember that 80s makeup was meant to make a very definite statement, not to subtly enhance. To quote the above website: "If your face didn?t look halfway clownish, you hadn't quite achieved the look yet."

IMO to do this look very convincingly you have to think makeup and accessories

Sounds fun!
