I'm going to a wedding next Saturday. I had an outfit all planned but tried it on today and it just doesn't 'look right' for a wedding. Can anyone advise/point me in the right direction. I had a look through the sale in Debenhams but everything was in a mess.

What were you planning to wear? Maybe you can buy some accessories to go with it?

Ah - that always happens to me too! Plan it all out in my head, then realise that I look like a bag lady

What colours suit you? How smart do you need to be? Do you need the whole outfit, or do you have shoes/bag/top, etc to build round?

It was a knee lenght blue skirt from Dotty P's but it doesn't hang right iyswim. I usually go for browns/tan that sort of thing. Usually wear black but can't for a wedding. Aarrgghh!!!

dresses always look hideous on me too because i'm a size 12/14 bottom and 10/12 up top. Basically big hips and tummy, no breasts, traditional pear shape!

Can you try Per Una? What sort of budget did you have?

How about looking for another skirt if the one you have doesn't feel or look right? I think skirts are the most comfy thing to wear to a wedding. I also dislike dresses, they cling to my tummy!

Have you still got time to go shopping? Next and Monsoon have still got some fab bargains in the sale, and some of the new Per Una stuff is lovely.

Have you got a digital camera? Can you post a piccie - in case you look lovely andyway?

sadly no digital camera. I don't mind spending anything up to £100 for a wedding. I had a look in Per Una and everything seemed to be linen which creases so easily I wasn't sure if it would be okay

Linen is so fab although you might need something warm over the top in case it's a typical freezing day. If you have to travel any distance to the wedding wear something else and change into it at the last minute.

NB have you tried East sale? the one here had the most incredible half price sale and I bought tons, including a pale pink linen suit, but lots of longer more relaxed things too.

no East here sadly. Tried Debenhams and couldn't see anything. I'll try again next week. I feel at that stage btw clothes being too young (new Look/Etam) and too old (Jacques Vert/Kaliko etc)
