I read this yesterday in an article about short hair and how to tell if it will suit you or not.

Measure the distance between the middle of your chin to your ear lobe. If the vertical distance is less than 2 inches then yes, you can carry off short hair.

huh?

first of all, when they say the middle of your chin do they mean the middle in the bottom, or half way between your mouth and the bottom of your face?!

and what is vertical distance?!!

the lowest part of your jawline ie your chin

measure straight upwards towards your nose and stop when you get to the height of the bottom of your ear lobe

I would say that they mean the mid-point of the tip of your chin, but they want you to measure straight down.

It's hard to explain.

Can't you just pull all your hair back and decide if it looks ok or not?

I'd have thought nearly everyone can carry off short hair but long hair is far harder to carry off.

A lot depends on the hair cut anyway.

Why didn't he just say "if you've got a long chin"?
