and if so, where from? I'm a size 8, 5ft 2ish with quite chunky thighs. I'd rather have one pair of really nice ones that a few pairs of cheaper ones.

Any ideas please where I should look?

No, they flatter no-one. And make anyone's thighs look enormous.

Lots of nice chinos - cropped and uncropped - around. Or go to The Gap and have look at their linen mix trousers - stone coloured, striped, off-white.
