Size 22, black tie dinner for work, preferably a flash top I can wear with black or navy trousers but wear to look? Oh and I'd like to spend as little as possible

Nice easy mission I know. I have navy evening shoes so maybe I should stick with navy - or I need to buy new shoes too. I know I sound really tight but i need to buy a new interview outfit and trousers to wear to a wedding and I really won't wear anything flash very much so I need as classy as possible for as little as possible......oh and no white shirts - hate them!

This with a statement necklace??

Ronaldinhio · 22/04/2010 20:58

what about this?
dress it up for dinner and then down for the tinterview?

traceybath · 22/04/2010 21:01

sleeveless

Northernlurker · 22/04/2010 21:05

I like the colour of the first top but it might be a bit plunging in the neck line department. The second blouse is beautiful but I think it might be too high a neck for me (contrary I know) 40H boobs don't always work in that sort of shirt ime. Thanks ever so much for looking though - it's a great idea to try and kill two birds with one outfit and I'm looking on the rest of that site now.

Thanks Tracey but I think I want sleeves - that's very pretty though.

I thought sleeveless may be a no go but pale grey looks lovely with navy.

From a quick look though there's not masses around of glam tops with sleeves which is a pain.

traceybath · 22/04/2010 21:16

in navy

Northernlurker · 22/04/2010 21:18

I like that. I have some other autograph tops and they're very nice.....hmmmmmmm.

What about a smart black maxi dress? I know they are sleeveless, but a shrug for the black tie thing and the wedding maybe?

I feel your pain about the big boobs with the high neckline, I find it hard to find things with an 'in-between' neckline. Things are either high neck, which is lovely if you are all willowy, or very plunging which is lovely if you are 25 and on the pull!

I suggest the dress because I always find smart tops an absolute PITA to find.

this would look lovely with navy trousers ... if not too informal?

Northernlurker · 22/04/2010 23:07

The kaftan is lovely - but I'm 5ft 3 - sorry should have mentioned that critical info!

I like the chambray shirt but it depends how it's cut - could be ok or could be all about the boobs.....

I might be brave and go look at dresses......

Go on, you know you want to. You then don't have to worry about things matching, and they are easy to dress up or down.

Marisota might be a good starting point to look at.

That chambray shirt is far far too everyday for for a black tie dinner.

Black Tie by definition means very formal

Tbh I don't think you're going to find something that is suitable for both a black tie event and a job interview.

Or am I reading the OP wrong?

Northernlurker · 23/04/2010 00:20

I don't want something for both although if say the shoes or trousers would do both that would be great. I just can't spend very much on this because I've got to cover the other things as well and won't wear this as much.

What do you think of this? I would not wear leggings though what trousers would it go with - or is it just a bad idea?

Just posting again to say I'm sorted.

I got this to wear over this and I've got some navy trousers which I can wear for this and also the wedding and the top will go under a jacket I have already to wear at wedding.
I also got the interview sorted with a suit in sale at M&S. Phew!!!!
